Here’s what’s happening this week at Villages of Hope-Africa…
Zimbabwe: Dental Team Visits
Last week a team of dental doctors from Canada visited VOH Zimbabwe and held a dental clinic at our village. They Dentists saw over 600 children from the school, over 80 staff members, and several community members all whose teeth needed attention. It was a very welcome service as most of the kids would otherwise never have the opportunity to visit a dentist in their lives.
We greatly appreciate these visitors who enhanced the health of our children and brightened their smiles!
Burundi: Preschool Children Celebrate Reports!
Our VOH Burundi Preschool children are extremely happy to receive final results for their first school year. They can’t help showing off their school reports just received from their teachers. It is exciting for all of us at VOH Burundi to see how happy they are with themselves and to see them having fun together as they pose for a picture with their report cards!
Chongwe: Meet Faless
VOH Chongwe would like you to meet Faless. She is so happy and thankful to be in school. Her mother told us that she had lost all hope that her daughter one day would be in school because of her personal financial struggles.
As the sole supporter of her family, Faless’ mom spends her days crushing stones to earn some money in the hope that she will be able to provide a home for her children. Faless is now in grade One and her mother is so grateful her child is now in school.
She told us that VOH Chongwe has changed the life of her daughter and she is grateful for all the generous VOH supporters who help make this possible!
Kitwe: Given’s Story
VOH Kitwe would like to share the wonderful story of Given whose life has been greatly impacted by our feeding program that caters to children who are not yet in our school but have been identified by our clinic as malnourished.
Given was the very first child to enter this extension of our feeding program when it started just over a year ago. She responded well to the nutritious meal she received each day through the program and this year she was able to start preschool at the Village.
She loves being in class and gets along well with the other young students. We are praying for similar great stories as the current group of children begin to benefit from being a part our feeding program.
Malawi: Royal Tea Party
Recently VOH Malawi held our second Royal Tea event at the Village. The Royal Tea event is for girls 12 years and older and aims to remind them of their Royal status in the Kingdom of God.
Chikondi, our speaker, shared her story with the girls. For over an hour she held them enthralled as she described how she overcame the death of her parents, abuse by her extended family, homelessness, and many other injustices along the road to owning her own business and becoming an independent, self-employed woman of faith. VOH Malawi: hope lives here.
Mongu: Sponsors Come Visit
We were so excited to have Karen Mackie from South Africa and Vanita Keeter and Isaac Keeter from America come and visit VOH Mongu this week! Both are sponsors of students at VOH so they brought little gifts and treats for their sponsor children.
It’s always a treat to have sponsors come and meet their sponsor children and see how much they are growing and learning at school. If you would like to sponsor a VOH child, visit vohafrica.com/child-sponsorship.
Mwanza: Meet Zawadi
Meet Zawadi. She is 10 years old and has lived at VOH Mwanza since she was a toddler. Zawadi has no known family to care for her; however, she is part of a family here at Village of Hope. She lives in Ebenezer House with her house “mama” and eight other siblings.
Zawadi has a beautiful smile and is a happy, playful child. She is currently in grade 4 at VOH Mwanza’s Primary school and works hard at her studies. She also is very helpful at home with chores like washing dishes and clothes.
We know God has a bright future ahead for Zawadi!
Latest Blog: VOH Children Receive Boxes of Love!
“In our family, the number of boxes that we have filled over the years is approximately 300. My past two trips I was able to recognise boxes of love that were packed by my family when giving them out in Zambia. I got to experience the joy that the boxes brought to all the children…” read more
