This week at VOH Africa, we returned to soccer practice, learned to use computers, and launched a Christmas campaign!

VOH Bulale (Tanzania) Update: Letter Writing Day!
Recently at VOH Bulale, the teachers assisted our children in writing letters to their sponsors. It is always a pleasure to see how much the children enjoy writing to their sponsors and thanking them for their support. We always encourage the children to be grateful for everything, and they are! A VOH Bulale tradition is that whenever the children are writing to their sponsors, they also pray for them. Sponsorship reminds the children they are valued and cared for, not only by their families and the VOH staff but also by people far away!

VOH Bwiza (Burundi) Update: Writing to Sponsors
It’s letter time again at VOH Bwiza! Generally, the children write to their sponsors at the beginning of each school term. In their letters, they let their sponsors know how they are doing, what they did during the school break, and what they are looking forward to in the term ahead. They always enjoy writing these letters. Corresponding with their sponsors allows the children to show appreciation for their sponsors’ ongoing love and support!

VOH Chongwe (Zambia) Update: Computer Lab
VOH Chongwe is very thankful for our computer lab; it is a huge blessing to our children! Many government schools in our district do not have computers, so the children are incredibly grateful for this important opportunity to learn. Recently, our Grade 2 students were excited to have hands-on practice with what they have been learning in their textbooks. They had a great time and did well! We are committed to ensuring that every VOH Chongwe child acquires computer skills, and the earlier they start, the easier it is to learn and become comfortable. We are confident that the computer skills our children acquire from our school will help them to excel as they graduate and seek employment or pursue further studies.
VOH Kitwe (Zambia) Update: Meet our Landscapers
VOH Kitwe values having a safe and clean environment for our students. We would like you to meet our landscapers responsible for keeping the grounds at our centre clean and well maintained. They are very committed to their work, and even during this dry season, when it’s hard to keep the entire area green because of low water supply, they work hard to ensure our gardens and grounds look good! They also ensure that the orange orchard is well maintained so that when the oranges are fully grown and ready to eat, the children benefit from the nutrition they provide. The children need to be in a clean and well-maintained environment, and we appreciate the hard work that goes into keeping everything looking healthy and beautiful!
VOH Luongo (Zambia) Update: Soccer Practice!
This week at VOH Luongo, our Grade 5 students were practicing soccer. It’s been a while since they’ve had regular sports practice due to COVID-19, and the children were excited to practice and play again! Soon, they will have friendly matches with children from other schools. The sports coordinator reviewed the rules and reminded them of the importance of following them when playing. We have plenty of room to practice and play soccer at our centre, and the teaching staff and the sports coordinator always ensure the area is free from risks that could cause harm or injury. It was a fun time for both the children and the staff!
VOH Maramvya (Burundi) Update: Constructing a New Building
We are happy to share that we are constructing a new building at VOH Maramvya! Construction began in July, and when complete, the new building will include a library, computer lab, and offices. After completing construction on the new kindergarten and primary classes, this new addition is the next thing needed at our school. We thank God for all the wonderful things happening at our centre and pray He will bless the donors that make our dreams a reality!
VOH Mwanza (Tanzania) Update: Under the Same Sun Visit
This past week at VOH Mwanza, Peter, the founder and CEO of our partner Under the Same Sun (UTSS), visited us. UTSS provides resources and assistance to people with albinism who have become victims of discrimination in Tanzania, and it is great working together! During his visit, Peter met with our children and staff and shared encouraging words with both groups. Peter reminded us that we are all ambassadors, protecting the rights of children living with albinism. Thank you, Peter, for visiting us and for your love for children in Tanzania!
VOH Zimbabwe Update: Baptism Week
It was baptism week at VOH Zimbabwe! Among the 40 people baptized, 15 were children from our children’s homes. One of the ways we provide holistic care for every VOH child is by providing spiritual care. The children understand the gospel message and know God loves them. It was an exciting time to see these young ones baptized as a sign of their faith. We pray they will continue to grow in their knowledge and love of God throughout their lives!
