Zimbabwe: Welcoming the Canadian Ambassador!
VOH Zimbabwe was honoured to have the current Canadian Ambassador Renè Cremonese visit us together with his wife. His visit coincided with the visit of our friends from the Mission Zimbabwe team that comes from Ontario each year.
It was an honour to show the Ambassador around the Village and give him insight as to the strong partnership we have between VOH and our Canadian friends. He seemed very pleased to see the work being done and the impact that it is having on the children of Zimbabwe.
We appreciate the visit and the encouragement we were given!
Burundi: Sports and Games!
VOH Burundi is aware of how important sports and physical activities are in the lives of our children. Sports and games are good ways to enhance the children’s mental and physical skills. They also are a great way to teach the children how to play well together.
For these reasons, we always plan a time where the children can have the opportunity to play together.
In these pictures, our new preschool children are having lots of fun together and the activities are helping them grow stronger and have more energy throughout the day!
Chongwe: Visitors and Boxes of Love!
This week at VOH Chongwe we were blessed to have a team from Canada come and visit us. The team members were from three different churches: CLA Langley, CLA Sooke, and Ladner Church. All three of these churches are all faithful and supportive partners of the VOH Africa family.
It was a wonderful experience as we shared songs, dances, and testimonies with our visitors. Some of the team members had the opportunity to connect with their sponsored children as well.
After a short program and some games, the children were each given a Box Of Love as once again this year we were blessed by many different churches who worked together to pack and ship a container to Zambia. The kids were so grateful to receive the Boxes and to have such a great day with the team!
Kitwe: Canadian Visitors!
This week VOH Kitwe was delighted to receive a combined team from Christian Life Assembly (Langley and Sooke) and Ladner Lighthouse Church. The team first spent a day with our friends at VOH Chongwe and then they came to spend the rest of the week with us!
On their first day in Kitwe, they went to church with some of the VOH children and moms and then they prepared hot dogs, grilled sausages, watermelons, and drinks for everyone.
The children and mothers sang songs and danced. The team also tried dancing to a local Bemba song. We had a great time together!
Malawi: New Minibus!
Last week VOH Malawi celebrated upon receiving a brand new mini-bus! HOOOOORAY!
The New minibus arrived safely at the Village and the children were super excited when they saw it and so was Greshan our driver! This minibus will be used to transport the children to and from school and will take housemothers and aunties shopping in town for groceries and other things they need from the market. The minibus will also allow us to take the children for special medical care if required.
We thank God and our special donors for this beautiful new minibus!
Mongu: Thank you, Sponsors!
VOH Mongu is blessed with incredible sponsors! We received so many amazing back-to-school presents from our sponsors in the last two weeks as the kids have just come back to school after school holidays. Many of the gifts were filled with school supplies, sweets, reading books, activity books, and amazing new dictionaries and encyclopedias.
It’s also the beginning of winter and many of the children received nice, warm jerseys, thick socks, and new shoes.
Thank you to all of our sponsors for your generous gifts! (Sponsor a Child)
Mwanza: Child Protection
Last Saturday we had Child Protection Policy Training for all staff at VOH Mwanza. It was facilitated by our VOH Mwanza Child Protection Officer. It was a very interactive and informative session as we were reminded of our policies and took time to discuss any challenges faced. Our Child Protection Policy helps shape our village and how we run day-to-day, so meetings like this are important.
It is a top priority to ensure every VOH Africa child knows they are safe and loved, and following a strict child protection policy helps us achieve this.
