Bicycle Tune-Up: this week at VOH Africa

Here’s what’s happening this week at Villages of Hope-Africa…

*

Malawi: Bicycle Tune-Up!

VOH Malawi recently had a bicycle tune-up day. The children had a lot of fun taking part in the event and are happy to enjoy their maintained bicycles!

Burundi: Children Lead Sunday Service

We had an amazing Sunday this week at VOH Burundi! The service was organised and coordinated by the VOH children. It was really fantastic to see them leading the church.

Chongwe: Candy from Canada!

While VOH graduate Happy Mwale was in Canada recently, our friend Darlene from Edmonton gave him a duffel bag full of lollipops to take back to the VOH Chongwe children! We are so grateful to our sponsors for their support and for the love that they show to us.

Kitwe: World Handwashing Day

Last week VOH Kitwe joined the rest of the nation in observing World Hand Washing Day. Our leadership invited Community Social Welfare leaders to reinforce the lessons of the day and our clinic staff facilitated training on hygiene and sanitation measures. At the end of the day, each child was given a bar of Dettol soap to take home.

Regular training on such matters is one of the ways we care for our children as well as those in the surrounding community.

Mongu: Gifts from Sponsors

Mukonda, Pumulo, and Mwangala were just a few of the children that received gifts from their sponsors this month at VOH Mongu. The packages were full of school supplies, sweets, clothes, and fun toys and the gifts made the children feel incredibly loved and valued by their sponsors from around the world. Their smiles speak for themselves!

Mwanza: Teen Connect

25-11-16-mwanza

Teenagers from VOH Mwanza as well as several from the community have been enjoying the recent “Teen Connect” events held monthly at Mwanza Pentecostal Church. It is a great time to connect with other teens and to grow both spiritually and socially.

Zimbabwe: Integrity Summit

25-11-16-zimbabwe

Leadership requires integrity to be effective and make a difference in children’s lives. The VOH Zimbabwe leadership took part in a 3-day integrity summit organised by CLI (Commissioning a Life of Integrity) held onsite at the Village. After the conclusion of the summit, certificates were issued and we know that the children will have strong role models to emulate as they grow.
