At VOH Africa, we know that a child cannot learn on an empty stomach. Across our centres, our school feeding program is more than a daily routine; it is key to good health and strong academic focus. For many of the children who walk through our gates, this may be the only meal they have in a day. For parents, it is a tremendous weight lifted off their shoulders to know their children are well-nourished, no matter the household circumstances.
Behind every meal served is a life being transformed from the inside out.
Take young Emmanuel at VOH Mwanza, for example. He arrived at just five years old, fighting severe malnutrition that left him weak, frail, and completely non-verbal. With consistent care and nutrition, his body healed. Today, he can be seen running around the centre, laughing and playing with his friends.
At VOH Kitwe, regular meals gave Christine the strength to overcome overwhelming anxiety, transforming her into a confident, enthusiastic student who loves going to class. And for Nadège at VOH Maramvya, who lost her father, these daily meals provided the focus and health she needed to excel in her studies and reach Grade 9.
As our students head back to class for a new school year, our "Full Tummies, Full Minds" back-to-school campaign is what makes these stories possible.
Through your support, you aren’t just funding meals; you are fueling a child’s dreams, lifting entire families, and giving vulnerable children the energy they need to build a brighter future.
Please join us today. Your gift will fill a hungry tummy and change a life forever!

When 5-year-old Emmanuel arrived at VOH Mwanza last year, he was fighting severe malnutrition and was completely non-verbal. Seeing him so quiet and physically weak broke our hearts, but our team knew that with love and some targeted nutrition, his situation could change.
Thanks to our staff’s incredible dedication, Emmanuel’s life looks entirely different today. Proper nutrition has transformed him in amazing ways. He now has the strength to run and play.
Wholesome meals help bodies grow strong, building a solid foundation to help fight off sicknesses caused by severe undernourishment. Seeing Emmanuel laugh and run around with high energy reminds us why nutrition and loving care matter so much.
When the feeding program was introduced at VOH Kitwe years ago, it transformed entire households. Today, it continues to benefit countless children, giving relief to families who know their children are receiving nutritious porridge at school. This eases financial pressure on parents while encouraging children to stay in school and focus on their studies.
Christine is one of the many beneficiaries of this program, but the impact on her life went far beyond her academic performance.
When she first arrived, Christine was extremely shy and anxious in crowds, often refusing to go to school. Since receiving regular, nutritious meals at the centre, she has grown remarkably confident and developed a wonderful attitude toward her education. Her housemother has noticed a complete shift; Christine is happier, enthusiastic about going to school, and eager to interact with her peers.
Christine’s story shows that investing in school feeding does more than provide food; it is an investment in a child’s holistic well-being.
At VOH Maramvya, our school feeding program continues to transform lives. Before the program began, many children in our community ate only once a day. Today, daily meals at the centre ensure our students get extra meals rich in the nutrients they need to stay strong and focused.
Teachers confirm that academic performance has improved significantly across all grade levels now that hunger no longer distracts students from their lessons.
Nadège, a student who lost her father, has benefited from the feeding program since Grade 6. Supported by these daily meals, she excelled in her studies and proudly advanced to Grade 9 this year. She shares that the food gives her the physical strength and mental concentration needed to pursue her education and fuel her dreams for the future.
For Nadège and countless others, this program is the difference between struggling and succeeding in school.
Please join us in making this new school year a success by donating today and helping us nourish bodies and fuel minds!
