Zimbabwe: Celebrating Success
We continue to celebrate the successes of our children at VOH Zimbabwe!
Telmomia recently won six prizes for excellence in her academic schoolwork. Here she is seen celebrating with relatives and friends.
Milton was awarded $150 from the National Arts Council and a laptop for his art models. He is set to enrol into an art school in 2017 and is so excited to be given the opportunity to continue with his natural gifting.
Burundi: Meet Chadia
VOH Burundi would like to introduce Chadia one of the teenage girls at our Village. Before coming to VOH, Chadia was forced to run away from her father who was not treating her well and rejected her because of her faith. She went to her auntie’s home, who welcomed her but was not able to meet many of her basic needs, including education and food because she was already caring for so many other children in her home.
Chadia felt hopeless and in need of love, especially since she had been rejected by her own father. VOH Burundi welcomed her into the family and she says that is when she began to feel happy, loved, and full of hope.
Chongwe: New Shoes!
It was an exciting day at VOH Chongwe last week when every student received a new pair of school shoes thanks to a loving and faithful donor.
It was fun to walk around the Village and see the kids showing each other their new shoes. There were smiles everywhere!
Kenya: Meet Daisy
Daisy is one of many promising young girls at VOH Kenya! She lives in our children’s homes because her mother died when she was very little and her father couldn’t take care of her. Daisy wants to be a nurse when she grows up, she says she wants to help sick and injured people get better. She’s a compassionate and caring girl, who will make a great nurse.
We are happy to care for Daisy, providing the tools that she needs to have her dream of becoming a nurse come true!
Kitwe: Preschool Enrollment
VOH Kitwe is once again enrolling children for preschool, which will start in January 2017. The last quarter of every year, our school sends the word out to surrounding communities the day we will be distributing application forms. The School Admittance team checks out the information on the application in order to be able to identify and prioritise the neediest orphans and vulnerable.
Our neighbours in the surrounding communities have embraced the importance of education and are thankful Village of Hope is there to help them provide an education for their children.
Mongu: Dedicated Teachers
At VOH Mongu we love our extremely dedicated teachers! Meet Clarissa, one of our teachers who stays every day after school to tutor those who are struggling with their reading and writing skills. We are happy to give this extra help to the children who need it so every VOH child has the best possible chance to succeed in class.
Mwanza: Graduation!
At VOH Mwanza we are celebrating with both our primary and high school graduates. We had several children graduate from Grade 7 and several more from Form 4 (grade 11). We are very proud of them and all the hard work they have done to make it to graduation day. We know God has amazing plans for each of them!
