Mongu: Maintenance Volunteers
VOH Mongu was so blessed to have a church from South Africa come up and help with some maintenance around the Village this last week! A group of people from Life Church in Somerset West, SA, came and put a fresh coat of paint onthe doors of the homes and on the preschool block at the school. Thank you to Life Church and to everyone that made this trip possible!
Chongwe: Fighting Measles + Rubella
Our clinic at VOH Chongwe participated in the national campaign to fight against Measles and Rubella, which had the theme “Every child deserves a healthy start in life.” Children from 9 months to 15 years were all included in this important vaccination program.
Burundi: Writing Sponsors
Our children at VOH Burundi love being given the opportunity to write a letter to their sponsor. Most of them have not had the chance to meet their sponsor face to face and so being able to communicate with them through a letter is soprecious and exciting for them. They are happy to share how they are doing and to say thank you for the support.
Kenya: Having Fun in P.E.!
Every Wednesday at VOH Kenya, the children come in their gym clothes, ready to enjoy outdoor physical education activities. In these pictures, our grade 3 girls are playing a game of catch in the school field.
Kitwe: Outdoor Mathematics
Last week at VOH Kitwe, one of our teachers took her Mathematics class outside for their lesson. She used sticks to demonstrate addition and make plus and minus signs. The children enjoyed the lesson because they were able to visibly understand the concepts being taught while enjoying a nice sunny Kitwe day!
Malawi: Annual Picture Day
Mwanza: “Battle of the Homes”
Every year at VOH Mwanza we hold a “Battle of the Homes” soccer tournament where all the children’s homes compete in an all-day soccer tournament. Even the mamas get involved and everyone has a great time! This year the winners were from Bethany House. We also give out an award for Best Sportsmanship.
Zimbabwe: Planning for 2017
At VOH Zimbabwe our 2017 planning is well underway. We are excited about the new programs that we are developing that will allow us to help even more children in our community.
