Kenya: New High School!

This week at VOH Kenya, we held the grand opening ceremony of our new high school! It was a great event in celebration of the highly anticipated completion of our new classrooms. These classrooms are said to be the nicest high school classrooms ever built in this rural community.

Guests at the ceremony included our guest speaker, Rev. Joel Odondi, a respected member of the local community and the high school student’s guardians. Teachers, children, and staff of VOH Kenya, were also all in attendance.

The day included motivational speakers and special musical presentations. Trees were planted in honor of this day and the students were told that trees represent life. The trees were watered symbolically as education waters the life of the children, bringing hope for their future.

Chongwe: New Library!

VOH Chongwe is excited for the new library at our school! The library is well-stocked and the books are made available to the students to help them with their studies, increasing their knowledge and understanding on a variety of subjects.

We also have a good supply of early reading books for our younger students and light reading novels for the older. We know this new library will play a great role in the lives of our students. They are already really enjoying exploring all of the books.

Kitwe: Back to School

School break is over and at VOH Kitwe all of our children are happy to be back in school. The young kids were given the opportunity to use the library for the first time, with our librarian reading them stories. Our Kachimfya Youth Empowerment students spent their first day doing some general clean up around their classrooms and youth center. We are looking forward to a great school term for all!

Mongu: Blessed by Volunteers

At VOH Mongu we are so blessed by the amazing volunteers who work with us to improve the lives and education of the children in the Western Province of Zambia where our Village is located. Volunteers, Sam and Clarissa, spend a lot of time tutoring the children after school in some of the areas they need extra help with. We want to see every child succeed and fulfill their utmost potential and we are doing everything we can to help them get there!

Mwanza: Local Donations

At VOH Mwanza we are very thankful for the many local donations we receive throughout the year. There are several families and businesses in the community who regularly bring food, household items, school supplies, and clothing to donate. We are blessed by their generosity!

Zimbabwe: Baptisms

VOH exists to help children grow physically, emotionally, and spiritually and to become contributing members of society. To effectively develop a child we need to make sure their spiritual being is taken care of. At VOH Zimbabwe some of our children were baptized together with others to publicly testify to their faith and their spiritual growth.

VOH Burundi is a real miracle to my children and me. One day, I heard from a friend who attends Burundi Assemblies of God Church that there was an opportunity to apply to receive help for orphans. I went there and asked for help for the three children that I was caring for… Read more
