Kenya: New Classrooms!
This week at VOH Kenya our high school students moved into their brand new high school classrooms! The classrooms are ready just in time for the start of Term 3 of the Kenyan school year. Thank you to our sponsors for making these classrooms a reality.
Chongwe: Lesson Planning
School is on break at VOH Chongwe and the teachers are busy with their lesson planning and classroom decorating for the next term. We are thankful to have teachers who are so passionate and commitment to their students!
Kitwe: Visiting Gideon
This past week some of our VOH Kitwe teachers went and visited Gideon, a sick student who has been away from school with TB. He is currently on TB treatment and not able to attend class. They took him some groceries and prayed with him. He was very encouraged by the visit! Gideon has been at Village of Hope since preschool and he is now in grade 10. We look forward to him being able to return to class very soon.
Malawi: New Caregivers Day
This week at VOH Malawi we had “New Caregivers Day” where we gave orientation to all of the caregivers of the new children who recently joined to our program. Afterward, we welcomed them to the VOH family by sharing a meal together.
Mongu: Designing with Clay!
Mwanza: Reunited!
Recently some of our mamas and children were able to visit a former VOH Mwanza child, Lucy. Lucy stayed at VOH Mwanza for when she was younger but was able to return to her extended family a few years ago.
In August she decided to write a letter and have a bus driver drop it at VOH Mwanza. In the letter, Lucy said she had been thinking of everyone and missed everyone and wanted to say hello and tell us she is doing well.
We were so happy to receive her letter and decided to organize for a couple housemothers and children to go and visit her at her school in town. She was very happy to see everyone. She is studying and is in Grade 7 now.
It was a great reunion and we are happy she is doing so well!
Zimbabwe: Team Building
Before the start of every school term at VOH Zimbabwe, the staff gets together for a team building session. We talk about our holidays and help each other plan for the upcoming term. The highlight of this time together is playing games and sharing a meal together. We look forward to another term of positively impacting the lives of our children!
