Zimbabwe: Fire Safety Training
At VOH Zimbabwe we recently held refresher training for our children and staff about what to do if a fire breaks out. Fire is dangerous and can destroy things if not taken care of immediately. The houses all have fire extinguishers and we make sure every child knows what to do in the event of a fire. Our training includes fire drills, use of extinguishers, and general information about fires and how to prevent them.
Burundi: Team from Winnipeg
VOH Burundi was happy to receive a team from Cross Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Some of the children had the opportunity to meet their sponsor and everyone took part in a picnic and games day. We had so much fun together, sharing stories, dances, and food.
Chongwe: Painting the School
VOH Chongwe welcomes Sarah, Emily, and Jen. They are helping us paint the school exterior and leading a Vocational Bible School program with the kids while school is on recess. We appreciate all of our donors and volunteers for their continued love, passion, and support towards our ministry. It is an added blessing when we receive visitors to the Village!
Kenya: School Break!
VOH Kenya’s grade 5 students are glad to be finished their Term 2 exams and are about to go on their month long break from school. Everyone will return to class in September. Enjoy your holiday students, you’ve worked hard and it’s been a good term!
Kitwe: Playing with Toy Cars
This week at VOH Kitwe, our younger children enjoyed playing with the new wooden cars they recently received. The moms use these times to encourage the children to use their imaginations and to play well with one another. We are thankful for the love shown to our children by way of these types of gifts.
Malawi: Girls Netball Team Wins!
We’re so proud of our girls netball team here at VOH Malawi. They tidily defeated their opponents 26 – 14 in a recent match held on our campus. Way to go girls!
Mongu: New Uniforms!
Mwanza: Special Needs Program
Our special needs children at VOH Mwanza are doing well. We have 11 children in total in our special needs program and are thankful to be able to provide them with additional care, tailored to their specific situations.
Thanks to a recent generous donation we are able to make all of our classrooms wheelchair accessible and renovate one of our buildings so it can be used by the special needs children and their caregivers when they are not in class.

For the past couple of months, I have been memorizing Psalm 42. I use a specific technique that helps one memorize large portions of scripture. This technique is based on reading and reciting a passage 10 times each day for 100 days. In addition to reading and reciting the passage one also contemplates on the passage throughout the days. This allows one to become intimate with the passage…Read more
