Check out what’s been going on this week at Villages of Hope-Africa…

VOH Malawi: Ingenuity
Meet Nixon. Nixon turns 10 next month and is a remarkably creative individual. He wanted to play guitar “like Uncle Jef” and, lacking a guitar, took matters into his own hands. Using an old tin jug of wood stain, a piece of 2×4 wood, some steel clothesline wire, and his own creative brilliance, he fashioned a fully operational guitar for himself.
Does it work? You bet it does! You can tune it and play all the notes on the musical scale. Well done, Nixon! We’re so impressed by your ingenuity.
VOH Burundi: Learning Nutrition
Today in Burundi, many sellers of vegetables end up wasting them because vegetables only stay fresh for a very short time and the markets are forced to throw away anything that has not sold. James taught us how we could get those vegetables from the sellers, dry them and then use them as part of our children’s meals. We appreciate James training our lead team and we believe this will reinforce our feeding program.
VOH Chongwe: Bible Study for Girls
Melissa is conducting bible studies for grades 7 to 9 girls at VOH Chongwe. The girls just finished a study on Esther, where the main focus was understanding that God has a great plan for us no matter our circumstances. Now, they are studying different people in the bible. Their focus for the next coming weeks is Joseph. This study is helping our girls express themselves and understand God’s plan for their lives.
VOH Kenya: Meet Agnes and Merceline
Meet Agnes and Merceline, two Grade 9 students who are excited to be at VOH Kenya’s High School, preparing for a bright and hopeful future! Agnes’s favorite subject is mathematics and her goal is to become an accountant. Merceline wants to be a nurse after she graduates. Her favourite subject is Christian Education. There are currently 18 students in Grade 9 and they all have a story and a dream for a brighter future. They are willing to work hard at their studies to achieve their dreams.
Believe with us for the next generation of Kenyans, ready to make a difference in their lives and in the lives of those around them!
VOH Kitwe: Discipleship Training
This week VOH Kitwe staff and students received discipleship training from Uncle Sergio (Executive Director) while he was visiting the Village. It was encouraging to be reminded how much God loves us. We learnt how we can also lead others to experience the love of God and how to be free from fear and bondage. It was a great and uplifting time together.
VOH Mongu: Sponsor Photos
This week was Picture Week at VOH Mongu Community School. We love getting to update our sponsors on how their children are doing and show them how much they are continuing to grow and flourish in their classes at VOH. There is so much personality here at our school and we feel enormously blessed to have such beautiful, smiling faces filling each classroom with joy and laughter!
VOH Mwanza: Miriam off to University!
We are also incredibly grateful for her sponsors in Canada who made this dream a reality. She is headed off to South Africa to study Public Health at Monash University. Last Sunday was her last Sunday (at least for a while) in Tanzania and so we took some time to pray for her in the service at Mwanza Pentecostal Church, the church located onsite at the Village.
She is excited but of course nervous at the same time. Please pray for Miriam as she begins this new phase in her life and settles into life at University.
