Check out what's been going on this week at Villages of Hope-Africa...
Feeding 100 at VOH Malawi
At VOH Malawi our feeding program brings balanced nutrition to over 100 children daily. We captured these beautiful faces looking in on us as we worked away preparing the daily meal. Our feeding program is a key ingredient in the holistic care of these children and it’s easy to get involved. You can help sponsor a VOH feeding program by visiting: vohafrica.com/donate.
Meet Divine
VOH Burundi is happy to share about the changes in Divine’s life! Divine didn’t know her father, and her mother passed away, leaving her and her two brothers in a desperate situation with nobody to take care of them.
A kind lady from the community took all three children in, but unfortunately, she was a widow without steady income and was unable to care for her own two children as well as Divine and her brothers. With all of the challenges in Divine’s life, she became sad and quiet and didn’t interact with other children.
The widow decided to bring them all to VOH Burundi where they were able to move into one of the Bwiza children’s homes.
Divine is now full of joy and hope, she says, “VOH Burundi has become both my father and my mother. I’m deeply thankful for Mother Donavine, and how she cares for me, is patient with me and loves me.”
2016 Enrolment
One of the ways VOH Chongwe continues to make an impact in the lives of the children in its nearby community is by providing them with free, quality education. Last week we held a day for caregivers from the surrounding community to bring their children to the village to apply to be enrolled in the coming 2016 school year Kindergarten class. Those who came to the Village were so thankful for the opportunity being provided!
VOH Kenya Students Prepare for g8
Grade 8 students at VOH Kenya are looking into the new year with anticipation! These 16 students have worked hard all year long, preparing for their Kenyan primary exit exams.
Next week, they will write their exams, which will determine if they can continue on to secondary school. Today, they are being presented before the Lord in a special prayer service requested by the students to put God first for their future and to ask for strength and wisdom in writing their exams.
The pastors from the local VOH church, Grade 8 parents, teachers, and fellow students took part in this blessing ceremony for the Grade 8 students. We believe in you, Grade 8 students of VOH-Kenya! The future is yours, full of hope and favor as you continue to grow and learn.
Study Time at VOH Kitwe
At VOH Kitwe, study time is the time children living in the children’s homes sit around the table and do their school work with the help of their house mom. Even the little ones have something to do, like drawing and learning to read and write.
The program of study time is effective, in that children are helped by any mother; “It takes a village to raise a child.”
Teamwork at VOH Mongu
For the past several weeks at Kids Church, VOH Mongu children have been learning about friendship and teamwork. The children learned the importance of working in a team just as Jesus worked in a team with His disciples. Soccer is always a huge hit for the children that come to Kids Church so the morning was spent putting positive teamwork to practice through different team building activities.
