Check out what's been going on this week at Villages of Hope-Africa...
Dentists Visit VOH Zimbabwe
Last week two dentists, Dr. Humah and Dr. Rutsito, blessed VOH Zimbabwe by once again offering dental services to our children and staff. They screened 82 children and 20 staff members and provided care as needed. A total of 26 fillings, 9 extractions, and 4 cleanings were required and all were completed successfully. We are so thankful that we are able to ensure that our children have good dental health!
VOH Chongwe Welcomes Visitors from Germany
VOH Chongwe enjoyed having visitors from Germany come and spend a few days with us at the Village. The Figge family lived in Zambia 12 years ago and this is their first visit back since moving home to Germany.
When the Figges lived in Zambia, VOH Chongwe did not even exist, but upon hearing about our Village, they volunteered to help for a few days. They gave a fresh coat of paint to the first children’s home and also helped with various other maintenance chores around the Village. We appreciate it when people show their love and support for us by coming and visiting!
VOH Kitwe Chaplain
VOH Kitwe would love to introduce a new member of our family: Carradine Mwenda has joined us as our Chaplain for the School. He is a Bible College graduate and before joining us he was a Children and Youth Pastor at Acts Community Church in Kitwe. Carradine is also a very talented musician and has been a part of worship teams for years. He is providing great support to the school chapel ministry. It is truly a great blessing to have a leader of his age and caliber in this vibrant ministry of VOH.
Fun Day at VOH Malawi
At VOH Malawi we celebrated our recent graduation with an afternoon of games and activities for the children. We played bobbing for apples, had foot races, potato sac races and staff vs children soccer and netball matches. There was food and soft drinks for everyone, truly a great day. Everywhere you looked smiling children and staff were engaged in the various activities. We called it our Fun Day event and it was exactly that!
VOH Malawi Teacher Diplomas
VOH Mwanza Harvest
At VOH Mwanza we finished harvesting our rice crop at the farm. The crop did well despite late rains and we hope to reap a good sized harvest that will be able to provide us with several months worth of rice for all the children’s homes. We are working on expanding our crops at the farm so we can provide even more of the food needs of the village without having to go to other local markets.
