We love to catch up with the graduates of Villages of Hope to see what they are up to and how they are contributing to their communities, which is why we created this series called “Where are They Now?”

About Naward
Location: VOH Kitwe
Been a part of Villages of Hope since: 2001 (13 years old)
What is your story before connecting with Village of Hope?
My name is Naward Kabo, I was born on the 20th of January, 1988. I am born in a family of 3 and I am the second born. My father died when I was 6 years old and my mother when I was 11 years old in 1999.
After the death of our mother, my two brothers and I started living with our grandparents. Life became difficult because our grandparents were not in formal employment.
We found out about VOH through the church where our parents used to go. In 2000 my young brother joined VOH and a year later I also joined.
My stay at VOH was a wonderful time and I learned many things I am applying in life even now.
I finished my high school from VOH, accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior, and finally I met the love of my life.
What are you doing now?
From VOH I went to the Copperbelt University thanks to scholarships that VOH helped me acquire. There I pursued a Bachelors degree of science in forestry which I successfully completed in 2011.
After graduating I joined VOH Kitwe as a High school Teacher for 7 months and I can describe that time as the best moment in my career because even after leaving I have received calls from my former pupils appreciating the service and the knowledge they got from my teaching.
Surprisingly I have also calls from the pupils who did not do well during their final exams asking how they can still make a way for themselves in life even when their exam results were not ok.
From VOH I joined a bank as a credit officer in September, 2012. On the 1st February, 2014. I was given a new role as an Internal controls officer to be based in Kitwe.
What are your dreams for the future?
My future plans are so many but some of them are: doing further studies so that I can use my skills to help other people especially the orphans in my country and around the world. I would like to help many orphans to realize they are human beings like any other person and they can achieve whatever they want to achieve. I would also like to open my own company.
How has VOH helped you get where and become the person you are today?
would describe my stay at VOH as a foundation for my career journey because it is from there I realized who I am and that nothing is impossible in life.
There are so many ways in which I have benefited from VOH including free access to education, shelter, food, and clothing. In addition to that, I also accepted Jesus as my Savior through the devotions we used to have.
Anything you would like to add?
I would like to offer appreciation to the following for everything they have done in my life and the lives of many other children for the Villages of Hope Africa:
I. The Executive Director
II. The sponsors
III. The house mothers and aunties
IV. The teachers
V. All the VOH workers
May the good Lord bless you all!
