VOH Bulale: Holiday Homework
Our VOH Bulale students are back in school after a short but refreshing two-week holiday. During their break, they were given a special holiday package to work on at home.
We’re so proud of them for returning with their completed assignments, eager and ready to dive back into their studies.
The joy on their faces as they reunited with friends and classmates has been heartwarming. Seeing them reconnect, share stories, and jump back into their school routine with such enthusiasm is a reminder of how important these moments of friendship and learning are.
We are committed to creating a supportive and nurturing environment for every child, helping them grow academically and personally. With the new school term ahead, we’re ready to continue guiding them on their journey, and we look forward to all the progress and achievements that lie ahead.
Welcome back, students. Let’s make the most of this new school term together!
VOH Chongwe: Welcoming Two Sisters
VOH Chongwe recently welcomed two sisters, brought to us by social welfare. The two girls needed a safe home because of the risk of potential harm they were faced with.
The sisters are now settling in well at the centre and are already benefiting from our various programs and are blending in well with the other children. In the short time they have been at our centre, they seem to know almost every other child in the homes by name!
We are glad that we continue to show care, love and support to children in need, and we are so grateful to the donors who continue to make this a reality!
VOH Kitwe: Providing Extra Lessons
The students of VOH Kitwe love school and enjoy learning. But when they encounter difficulties in learning, like reading or solving math problems, some withdraw and even stop attending.
Thankfully, our teachers always have a plan. This week, they held additional lessons for any student in need of extra support and guidance. The group met in our library and practiced reading.
The students who attended are thrilled because they are now caught up with their classmates!
VOH Luongo: School Garden
Our VOH Luongo school has a school garden, which is maintained and taken care of by the students with the help and supervision of the teaching staff. We started this initiative because the Ministry of Education is encouraging schools to have production units in schools.
In this garden, children grow different types of vegetables. We are happy to share that this week, there was a harvest of onions. The children were dedicated to taking care of the onions and ensuring they grew well. They took turns watering and weeding after classes.
The children and staff are happy because their hard work paid off, resulting in a successful harvest.
The onions will be sold to our staff to raise money for our programs. We are so proud of our students!
VOH Malawi: New Multipurpose Hall
We are excited to announce the completion of our new multipurpose hall at VOH Malawi! The timing couldn’t be more perfect, as the contractor handed over the keys just as schools reopened this week.
Building the hall has been one of the largest projects we’ve undertaken, and we are incredibly pleased with the final result. The building is durable, built to last for many years, and will serve as a significant asset to the children and community of Kauma.
The multipurpose hall addresses a long-standing need for a proper gathering space at the center. Now, we can host a variety of activities under one roof, including morning assemblies, kids’ chapel services, and our feeding program. It will also be used for meetings with guardians, as well as opening and closing celebrations for each school term. This space will foster a sense of community and provide a safe and welcoming environment for the children and their families.
This new hall is more than just a building; it represents hope and opportunity. We’re excited to see the positive impact it will have for years to come!
VOH Maramvya: New Staff Uniforms
Recently, at VOH Maramvya, we introduced new uniforms for kitchen staff, aunties, and other employees responsible for maintaining hygiene standards. The initiative aims to enhance cleanliness and professionalism in the workplace, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all.
The new uniforms consist of specialized attire, including gloves, hats, and custom-designed uniforms tailored to the unique requirements of each role, reflecting our commitment to upholding high standards of hygiene and food safety.
The uniforms not only serve a practical purpose in maintaining hygiene but also contribute to a sense of unity and professionalism among the teams.
As our staff don their new uniforms and gear up to serve with renewed dedication and professionalism, we look forward to fostering a culture of excellence that will benefit both employees and beneficiaries alike!
VOH Mwanza: Visiting Rock City Mall
During the recent holiday break at VOH Mwanza, we had the pleasure of organizing a memorable outing for our students to help them relax, unwind, and have some fun.
This time, we took them to Rock City Mall, where they enjoyed a range of exciting activities like riding toy cars, watching cartoons, and playing on the swings.
A total of 23 children joined the outing, accompanied by three dedicated staff members who ensured everything went smoothly and that the kids had the best time possible. The smiles, laughter, and pure joy on the children’s faces were simply heartwarming.
It was a perfect way for the children to enjoy their holiday, recharge, and create beautiful memories with their friends. These moments of joy remind us of the importance of taking time to relax and play, especially for our children. We are so grateful for the opportunity to give them such experiences, and we look forward to many more in the future!
VOH Zimbabwe: Substance Abuse Prevention
At VOH Zimbabwe, we are working with other organizations to help us build a generation of strong children physically, mentally and spiritually.
Recently, an organization called Pamumvuri, which focuses on helping youths overcome drug and substance abuse, visited our center to speak with the children.
Substance abuse is a significant issue in our society, and unfortunately, even young children can be affected.
The training covered various areas to help the children understand and identify the dangers of substance use. The program aimed to foster resilience and social responsibility and address psycho-social issues that are often at the core.
By equipping children with these vital skills, they become more adept at managing peer pressure and making informed choices.
