This Week: Celebrating Mongu Graduates

This week at VOH Africa, we received our measles and rubella vaccines, hosted a chess tournament, and celebrated recent graduates.

VOH Bulale: Measles and Rubella Vaccination

Recently, at VOH Bulale, our little learners from reception and nursery received their measles-rubella vaccination!

This essential immunization initiative was a success thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Office of the President, Regional Administration and Local Government Authority (TAMISEMI) in partnership with the Ministry of Health and vaccination stakeholders.

Sixteen children under five have received this life-saving vaccine at our centre, all thanks to our healthcare providers.

As a school, we are deeply invested in the well-being and future of our students. For us, it’s not just about administering vaccines; it’s about safeguarding the health and dreams of our children. We firmly believe that healthy children make for eager learners, and with robust health, they are better equipped to pursue and achieve their aspirations!

VOH Bwiza: Visitor from France

All of us at VOH Bwiza were excited to welcome Mrs. Olivia from France.

Mrs. Olivia came to Burundi for a holiday. Before arriving, she searched for childcare centres in the area. While searching, she found VOH Burundi and decided to visit us!

She even asked her colleagues in France to donate school supplies to bring to the children.

Thank you so much, Mrs. Olivia, for passing by and blessing our children with pens and books!

VOH Chongwe: Local Student Donates School Supplies

Jessica, a young lady who recently completed high school, asked her parents for money to buy gifts for her “friends at Village of Hope.”

It was a big surprise for our VOH Chongwe students to receive a donation of books, deodorant, pens and clothes from one of their peers!

Jessica inspired our children, and we hope that as they grow up, they will emulate her generosity towards others.

It is encouraging to know people within our community are inspired by our work and willing to come along to supplement our efforts to support children in need.

VOH Kitwe: Triplets Overcome Malnutrition

Our VOH Kitwe clinic offers free medical checkups to children under five from the surrounding communities. These checkups include taking height and weight measurements to track each child’s development.

Four years ago, triplets were brought by their mother for one of these checkups. Our medical staff were concerned as the children showed signs of malnutrition.

The medical team informed our administration, who enrolled the triplets in our daily feeding program. Their mother faithfully brought the three girls to our centre daily for their HEPS porridge.

The triplets are four years old, and we are thrilled to report they are all healthy and strong! They are fun girls and are eager to start preschool next year.

Their mother is grateful for the help received from VOH Kitwe, which saved her triplets from malnutrition. She visits our centre every month to collect a pack of HEPS for the girls so she can cook it at home for them.

We thank our sponsors, donors and friends for the help rendered to VOH Kitwe. It is through your support that life-changing stories like this are possible.

VOH Luongo: Christine and Beauty’s Story

Christine and Beauty are twins who came to VOH Luongo when they were young and malnourished. We enrolled them in our preschool class, and they joined our feeding program.

Now, they are in grade 7, and we are happy to share that they are both healthy and doing well academically. Soon, they will write their grade 7 national exams and then advance to grade 8. Their teachers are happy with their performance and are confident they will do well in their exams.

In their family, they are the first ones to reach this far academically.

In addition to performing well in school, the girls actively participate during chapel services by reading scriptures to their friends. They also enjoy a cup of HEPS porridge daily at our feeding program.

Thanks to VOH and our supporters, Christine and Beauty are happy and healthy children, and their mother is grateful for all the help and love they receive from VOH Luongo!

VOH Malawi: Superhero Fun Day

Recently, VOH Malawi had the pleasure of hosting visitors from Visual Attire, a charitable organization, under the theme “Super Hero Fun Day.”

Their visit brought a plethora of entertaining activities, including games, dance, drama, live music performances, and a captivating showcase of superbikes from the Lilongwe Bikers Club!

Additionally, they provided invaluable guidance and counselling to our adolescent girls.

The children were thrilled to receive various gifts, including food and clothing, making the day even more special. The presence of Visual Attire at VOH Malawi has significantly impacted the perspectives of many children, instilling a sense of joy and hope.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Visual Attire for their timely and generous gesture. Witnessing young Malawians reaching out to support vulnerable groups, including children, is truly heartwarming.

We pray for God’s continued support and blessings upon Visual Attire, enabling them to extend their outreach to even more individuals in need throughout Malawi.

VOH Maramvya: Security Upgrades

VOH Maramvya recognizes the importance of feeling safe while studying or working, so we are putting great effort into building our new perimeter fence.

This week, we are ready to add a gate at the entrance!

The staff and children are thrilled by how good it looks and are happy to see our centre’s increased security. Once complete, the property will be secure, and people won’t be able to come in and out without permission.

We are so grateful to our donors who make essential projects like this possible!

VOH Mongu: Celebrating our 2023 Graduates

Recently, at VOH Mongu, we celebrated the hard-earned achievements of our 2023 graduates! Staff and students alike were filled with pride, excitement and a profound sense of accomplishment.

As we commemorate this significant milestone, we were reminded of every student’s dedication, perseverance, and resilience throughout their academic journey.

On this special day, amidst the sea of caps and gowns, we took a moment to reflect on the remarkable progress and growth these young individuals have demonstrated.

Many of our graduates have overcome various obstacles and challenges along the way. Despite adversity, they have remained steadfast in pursuing knowledge and excellence. Their unwavering determination is a testament to their resilience and tenacity, inspiring us all to reach for our dreams no matter the circumstances.

We are filled with optimism and hope as we envision the countless opportunities ahead for our graduates!

VOH Mwanza: Caregiver Training

This week at VOH Mwanza, we organized a training session for our caregivers focused on providing the best care for children with disabilities.

We had 13 caregivers who participated in the training, eager to learn and grow in their roles. With this training, we aim to empower them with the knowledge and skills they need to ensure the well-being and happiness of our children with disabilities.

Every child deserves the best care possible, regardless of any challenges they may face. By investing in our caregivers and providing them with the tools they need, we’re making a positive difference in the lives of the children and their families.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this training possible, and let’s continue to support each other in our journey of caring for our children with love and compassion. Together, we can make a brighter future for all!

VOH Zimbabwe: Chess Tournament

The successful hosting of the provincial chess tournament by VOH Zimbabwe this week brings to light the remarkable achievements and efforts of the students and our VOH centre.

Over 20 schools participated in the tournament, showcasing the strong interest in chess among the youth and the collaborative spirit in our local education community.

Being chosen to host the provincial tournament significantly recognizes VOH Zimbabwe’s capabilities and resources. It demonstrates a high level of trust and confidence in the organization’s ability to organize and manage such prestigious events efficiently.

The exceptional performance of VOH Zimbabwe’s children, particularly as hosts, reflects their dedication, resilience, and strategic thinking in chess. Their success highlights their individual talents and underscores the effectiveness of the training and support provided by VOH Zimbabwe.
