Recently VOH Kitwe was invited to minister at Calvary Celebration Centre where Fatuma Banda, a young girl who grew up at our Village is now the pastor’s wife.
Fatuma moved into the first children’s home back in 1999 and was also one of the first graduates from our school. She then trained as a teacher while living in a youth home at VOH and after graduating from the teachers’ training college transitioned into her own home within the area.
Fatuma performed very well while at college and as a result she received employment as a teacher right away after completing school. Not long after graduating she met a young pastor, Churchill Mutale, and they were married. Even after she got married Fatuma continued to keep in touch with VOH Kitwe, and comes visiting on a regular basis.
Fatuma has been a very good inspiration to many of the children and youth in the children’s homes. Most recently she came to visit with her young daughter and newborn baby!
Last Sunday, Village Director, Everlyn Chitente was invited to come and minister and Churchill and Fatuma’s church together with a group of teens from the Village. Everlyn shared the word and the teens gave testimonies and some sang on the Worship Team which is led by Fatuma.
We were later blessed by the church with a donation of groceries for the Village. We are seeing a long-term relationship with the church, because both Fatuma and her husband have a great passion for orphans and widows as well as for evangelism.
It was inspiring to hear Fatuma share:
“Village of Hope has helped me to be where I am today, they gave me a home and took care of my needs when I was young and they taught me how to walk in the Lord.”
Our former students are giving back indeed!
