Check out what's been going on this week at Villages of Hope-Africa...
Boxes of Love Arrive at VOH Kitwe
It was a special day VOH Kitwe this week when children all sat on the football pitch to receive Boxes of Love. This year the ceremony started with prayer and songs of celebration. We felt the Christmas spirit in June! The spirit of sharing from the friends of VOH Africa in BC Canada. Christian Life Assembly and their partner churches for this program have done it again. We are grateful to all who are working hard towards raising support for the many blessings that come through the annual container. It was a time of jubilation for the children, who see the container arrive with great anticipation for the goodies that are found in the Boxes!
Discipling at VOH Chongwe
“Train up a child in the way they should go and when they are old, they will not depart from it.” At VOH Chongwe we understand that discipleship is an integral part of raising children. We would like to thank Sergio, the Executive Director of Villages of Hope, for piloting a new Discipleship program. The Senior Mother and the Head Teacher are part of the training as they have the zeal and, above all, they are stewards of the lives of the children. They are passing on everything that they are learning to the other mothers and teachers.
VOH Kenya Welcomes New Teachers
VOH Kenya would like to welcome 3 new teachers to the family! The plans for the high school are continued growth and the addition of further grades as the years go on. VOH Kenya has a great staff who care about the students’ success and are willing to use their own free time to help children in their homework and study needs.

VOH Mongu Saving Lives!
Two year old, Inutu, was admitted to the VOH Mongu Save a Life Centre for three weeks with severe malnutrition and swelling in all of her limbs. She came in weighing less than 7kgs, which is the expected weight for a six month old baby. Inutu was so miserable, crying constantly and refusing to eat or drink. She could not walk due to the edema.
After three weeks Inutu is eating well, gaining weight, laughing and playing and communicating with her Kuku (grandmother). It is great to see the change in her in just three weeks. We are so excited to see what God does in her life over the next 6 months as she joins the feeding program!
VOH Mwanza Opens New Home!
At VOH Mwanza we were very happy to officially open our newest home! It was great to have Executive Director, Sergio with us as well as some guests from Canada and John Okello, the Director from VOH Kenya for the opening. This completes the first phase of turning our old babies’ home into three separate children’s homes.
This will give us more room and help get our ratio of 8 children per home achieved. It will also create space to renovate and build more classrooms for our school. Mama Esther and two of her children, Paulo and Irene cut the ribbon and officially opened their new home in front of the whole village. We are so thankful for the generous donors who continue to make projects like this one possible!
