Writing to Sponsors: This week at Villages of Hope

Check out what's been going on this week at Villages of Hope-Africa...

Writing to Sponsors at VOH Kenya

KenyaVOH Kenya students were busy last week writing their ChildCARE Plus sponsors update and thank you letters. Kids love this time as they get to take fun pictures to send with their letters and they love to write and draw about their likes, dislikes, school, the community, and life in general. It is a special time when they are able to write those they know are helping to support them.

VOH Kenya is a family and those that support the ministry are a huge part of this family. We are so grateful that our children have the opportunity to dream big for their future!

VOH Burundi Children’s Festival!

BurundiLast week, VOH Burundi held a Children’s Festival at the Burundi Assemblies of God, the Church-Partner of VOH Burundi. Everyone said how impressed they were by the children’s behavior as well as their presentations. Two groups of children performed different dances, they also explained the salvation bracelets they recently made and shared some of the verses they memorized from the Bible.

We thank God for the Sunday school teachers and the children’s commitment!

Extra Classes at VOH Chongwe

ChongweDuring school break VOH Chongwe continues to help the children in our care by providing extra lessons focused on helping those who have reading and writing difficulties. In the picture Yolanta, a grade 5 teacher, is helping the children with reading.

Harvesting at VOH Kitwe

KitweVOH Kitwe would love to share the blessing of our recent maize harvest!

During this rainy season, four youth who sing together at the school worked on this crop and after only four months they had a bumper harvest! We are so proud of these boys who came up with this business idea.

The children’s homes were given maize and the surplus was sold to the staff and the funds were given back to the youth. They have used the money earned selling the maize to record a music CD, which they plan to sell. We thank God for the bumper harvest!

VOH Malawi Presenting for the EU

MalawiThe children of VOH Malawi are busy practicing hard for a presentation they will make before the European Union delegation to Malawi on Europe Day. They have been asked to sing the National Anthem of Malawi and of the European Union.

This is very exciting for us because the EU has been outstanding in their generosity towards us and this gives us the perfect opportunity to show them our gratitude.

Clean Up at VOH Mongu

MonguBefore the school’s first term closed at VOH Mongu, the teachers and students spent a morning cleaning the classrooms and school grounds, including the hill area between the school and the football pitch. After the business of the school term, we are proud to leave our school clean for the holiday.

After completing the cleanup we had a closing assembly to celebrate all that had happened that term. We wish all the students and staff a restful and blessed holiday.

Playing Church at VOH Zimbabwe

ZimbabweBuilding classes are a key part of the VOH Zimbabwe high school. Students who are taking building are given opportunities to help with various building projects around the Village as part of their practical lessons. We definitely have some very skilled young people at our school!

Latest Blog “The History of VOH Africa”

VOH Africa Directors, Sergio and Nancy Bersaglio, celebrate 15 years with PAOC missions this month. In honour of this, we decided it would be fitting to share the history of Villages of Hope as an organization, especially for those of you who may not know much about us. We are so excited to see how far VOH Africa has come, and we are looking forward to another 15 years! [read more]
