Check out what's been going on this week at Villages of Hope-Africa...
House 8 opens at VOH Chongwe
House 8 opened with joyful smiles and happiness at VOH Chongwe! The children and the Mother are so happy and filled with joy to join the happy family at VOH Chongwe. Mother Queen is so happy to receive her children (it’s a full house with 4 boys and 4 girls).
The kids love the special stuffed animals sent from a friend in Canada; they were given the stuffed toys when they arrived, and for every one of them it was their first toy, which made them so special.
VOH Burundi Visitors
This last week at VOH Burundi we were privileged to receive Karen and Scott from Texas. They are in Burundi working for an International Christian Ministry and they heard about Village of Hope Burundi and arranged to come and visit our children. We had a good time with them and they also brought some soccer balls as gifts for the children. Thank you, Karen and Scott for your time at VOH Burundi.
VOH Kitwe Teens Lead Worship
Last week VOH Kitwe teens–Taonga, Mapalo, Mirriam and Datula–lead the singing at Baracha Church, where they attend each Sunday with their house mothers. They are happy Pastor Raphael is allowing them to be a part of the services and last Sunday while they were singing, the pastor and congregation were delighted to have them leading!
Gideons Visit VOH Malawi
VOH Malawi would like to say a big thank you to Mr. Kondwani Mtalimanja who on behalf of the local Gideons visited us and presented Bibles to the children at school. The children were so happy to receive their very own Bible and they are treating them with great care, as a very special treasure.
VOH Mongu Rehearse for Christmas
VOH Mwanza Pen Pals
The Kindergarden students at VOH Mwanza School were very excited to receive a package of letters written by a Kindergarden class in America. The class from America had collected some school supplies and gifts and had sent them along with the letters for our students. We hung their letters in the Kindergarden classroom and the students wrote letters back to them along with a class picture. It was a fun project for us and we hope that the students in America will be happy to receive our letters and pictures!
VOH Zimbabwe Youth Home Under Construction
Construction of a youth home for VOH Zimbabwe is underway! When a child reaches the age where they are legally considered adults they move from the children’s home where they have been living into a youth home. This move allows the youth to experience more independent living and responsibiities while still remaining a part of the Village community. Making this move is very exciting for the youth and something that they look forward to!
