Homemade Drums at VOH Chongwe
Meet Elijah, one of the young boys living in the children’s homes at VOH Chongwe. Elijah loves music and especially loves playing drums and so recently he decided to make a set of drums for himself, improvising with whatever he could find to use from around the Village. He made his drum set using a cooking oil container, water container and various empty tins. Elijah beats the drums whenever the VOH Chongwe choir is singing and any other time that he and his friends are gathered to sing and enjoy making music together. Everyone is amazed at how creative his is and what a skillful drummer he is becoming.
Healing Touch Therapy at VOH Malawi
VOH Malawi is working hard at training, equipping and encouraging the staff. One of the ways we’ve been doing that lately is a training called Healing Touch therapy. The moms and some of the school staff have participated in learning how appropriate touch can make a child feel noticed and special. Playing games and singing songs are being used to help teach the moms and teachers practical ways to interact with and provide healthy positive encouragements and support that they can use in their daily routines with the children.

These two children live in the children’s homes at the Village and everyone attending was happy to see the VOH children taking a leading part in the service.

University Students Help VOH Mwanza
Seven students from St. Augustine’s University, Mwanza visited VOH Mwanza on Saturday, to lend a helping hand cleaning up both inside and outside the Village. This helped them to obtain required field experience for their university studies along with helping us do necessary cleaning. The VOH Mwanza boys joined in with the students and they shared a morning of work and getting to know each other. It was a great experience for everyone!

This Week’s Blog: Director’s Blog “In Memory of Joe Lewis Whittaker”
The writer of Ecclesiastes wrote, “I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one’s lifetime.” Joe did both very well, he rejoiced and did good. As I look back on Joe’s legacy I count it a privilege to have known him and am thankful for the opportunities that we all have to make a difference in the lives of others in whatever way God has gifted us… Read Here
