This week at VOH Africa, VOH Bulale held an opening ceremony for their primary school!
VOH Bulale: Grand Opening Ceremony
This week, our VOH Bulale primary school held a grand opening ceremony!
Distinguished guests attended the event, including the deputy secretary of the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups and Nancy and Sergio Bersaglio, directors of VOH Africa.
The ceremony included songs and student presentations. The guests were entertained and delighted by the children’s talents, which brought smiles and laughter.
The Director of VOH Tanzania, Julius Kenyamanyara, shared his joy in seeing the dream of building a school in the Bulale area come true. He noted that parents and guardians now have the assurance that their children are receiving a good education that will help them become valuable members of society.
Parents and guardians expressed their gratitude, emphasizing the value of having a school nearby that offers free, quality education.
We want to thank all of our supporters, including the donor who generously sponsored the school’s construction!
VOH Chongwe: Road Improvement Project
VOH Chongwe is blessed to have received funding to improve the road at our centre.
This road, which runs from the main entrance to the other entrance and covers a stretch of about 180 meters, has been posing a significant challenge due to excess stones and soil erosion.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we now have the funds to hire a contractor to level and pave the road, making it safer and more aesthetically pleasing.
A big thanks to all of our donors who made this important project possible!
VOH Kitwe: Self-Esteem Workshop
During the recent school break, our Child Safeguarding Officer at VOH Kitwe offered the children who live on-site a workshop on self-esteem. She explained to the children what self-esteem is, what impacts it, and how to boost it.
The housemothers and head teacher also attended this interactive session, where the children were encouraged to ask and answer questions and share their experiences.
The children were grateful for what they learned and the encouragement they received from their leaders.
VOH Luongo: Field Trip to a Game Ranch
This week, our VOH Luongo students went on an educational field trip to Mokkoro Game Ranch, accompanied by the teaching staff. At the ranch, the children saw and learned about zebras, impalas, kudu, peacocks, and ostriches.
The tour guide provided information regarding the animals they keep and the environment in which they live. He also gave the children an opportunity to feed animals like the zebra and the ostrich!
The children loved the experience!
We are so grateful to our donors and friends for their support, which makes educational trips like this possible.
VOH Malawi: Intake Week at VOH Malawi
This week at VOH Malawi marks our intake week, a crucial time when we invite families from the Kauma community to bring their 4-year-old children for registration. During this process, we prioritize the most vulnerable children, including orphans and those with albinism, to join our program and receive the support they need.
The intake process begins with two days of applications, followed by a thorough household assessment. Our dedicated staff members visit the community with registration forms to verify the information provided. This step ensures that we select the children most in need of our care and support. During the process, we pray and trust the Lord to guide us in choosing the right children to join our VOH family.
We are grateful to God for a smooth process this year. Our team, now experienced in these tasks, carries out their duties with confidence and dedication. As we continue through this process, we ask for your prayers and trust in God to guide us every step of the way.
VOH Zimbabwe: Denzel’s Story
This week, we saw another heartwarming success story at VOH Zimbabwe. Denzel, who was placed at VOH Zimbabwe in 2017 at the tender age of 10, has reunited with his family!
During his time at our centre, Denzel not only attended school and completed his O’levels but also excelled academically. His hard work has paid off, as he will be pursuing a degree in journalism at a college in the city.
Denzel’s journey is a testament to the opportunities provided by VOH, which played a crucial role in shaping his future. His intelligence and determination make him a fine young man with endless potential.
As he reunites with his aunt, we hope this new chapter in his life will further enhance his aspirations and development.
While VOH continues to be a beacon of hope for vulnerable children, the ultimate goal is to ensure that children can thrive within their own families whenever possible.
