This Week: Installing High-Speed Internet

This week at VOH Africa, installed high-speed internet and welcomed some new friends and some old ones.

VOH Bulale: Bonding through Letters

At VOH Bulale, the bond between our children and their sponsors is nurtured through letters.

Twice a year, our children sit down to write letters to their sponsors, sharing their thoughts and experiences. These regular updates, written with care and sincerity, provide a window into the children’s daily lives, achievements and dreams. It’s a cherished tradition that allows our sponsors to stay connected with the children they support and witness their growth.

Our favourite type of letter is the “First Letter to Sponsor.” This is the initial letter that a child writes to their sponsor, marking the beginning of a meaningful relationship. This letter is filled with excitement and hope as the child introduces themselves and shares their initial thoughts and aspirations.

We believe that these letters are more than just words on paper; they are a testament to the love, support, and hope that our sponsors bring into the lives of our children. Through these letters, our children learn the value of gratitude, communication, and the beauty of building lasting relationships.

VOH Chongwe: High-Speed Internet

This week at VOH Chongwe, we finally gained access to high-speed internet! This service will help our centre perform various online tasks and processes quicker and more efficiently. It will also ensure we have a reliable way to communicate with others.

Uninterrupted and faster connectivity will also be excellent for our students as they learn how to use computers.

Staff and children are all excited and look forward to enjoying the benefits that come with reliable internet!

We are incredibly grateful to our donors and VOH Africa leaders for making this possible.

VOH Luongo: Mr. Silungwe Returns

This week at VOH Luongo, we were once again privileged to receive a book donation from our friend, Mr. Silungwe and his team.

In the past, Mr. Silungwe has donated assorted school supplies to the children at our centre. However, this was the first time members of his team came along with him. They loved our centre and meeting the children!

The children were excited to meet the guests and were thrilled with the variety of books they received. We have developed a reading culture at the centre, and the children are responding enthusiastically. They get excited each time they pick up a new book.

We are so thankful for Mr. Silungwe and his team’s ongoing friendship. We know these books will be used and cherished by our students!

VOH Malawi: Angella Competes

This week at VOH Malawi, we participated in an athletic competition within our education zone. The kids from our centre were thrilled to compete, and among them was 13-year-old Angella, an agile girl with a passion for running. She had been training for weeks to perfect her technique and build endurance.

As the competition began, Angella took her place at the starting line, her heart pounding with anticipation. When the whistle blew, all the kids took off like rockets. In the end, Angella emerged as the champion.

The organizers chose her to represent our zone at the district competition to be held in the coming weeks. We know she will continue shining and represent both VOH Malawi and our zone well.

We greatly thank all the staff members for encouraging Angella to realize her potential and wish her all the best for the upcoming championship!

VOH Maramvya: New Office Building

This week at VOH Maramvya, construction has commenced on a new office building for our leadership and administration teams!

The construction project represents a crucial step forward in enhancing the infrastructure and operational capacity of our centre. The new office building is set to be a modern and efficient workspace designed to accommodate the specific needs of the two departments, with a focus on functionality and comfort.

Construction is progressing steadily, with completion anticipated in the coming months.

VOH Mwanza: Children’s Chapel

At VOH Mwanza, Wednesdays are special for our children because we hold our Children’s Chapel. The chapel is dedicated to prayer, worship, and showcasing the unique talents of our young ones.

Each week, children from all classes come together to connect, share, and grow in their faith and creativity.

Recently, we had the honour of hosting visitors from Hope City Church in Edmonton, Canada. These guests brought with them messages of hope and inspiration. They spoke about the importance of healthy relationships, shared the word of God, and encouraged our children to be kind, respectful, and responsible.

The children were overjoyed by the visit. They listened attentively, asked questions, and participated in various activities. The lessons our guests imparted had a profound impact, leaving the children with new insights and renewed spirits.

The visit from Hope City Church was a memorable experience for everyone!

VOH Zimbabwe: Victory Christian Ministries International

This week at VOH Zimbabwe, we were blessed to welcome a 30-member team from Victory Christian Ministries International (VCMI) from the USA and UK through PAOZ, the primary host.

The impact of the VCMI team during their two-day visit was truly transformative for our programs. The team comprised experts in various fields whose contributions to knowledge sharing and capacity building were instrumental in empowering the children with enhanced skills and expertise in education, healthcare, and community development.

Through collaborative discussions, devotional sharing, testimonies, and classroom lessons, the team effectively transferred knowledge and experience to the children.

Their direct involvement in our feeding program was particularly noteworthy, as they actively participated by serving the children and cleaning the dishes.

Moreover, the networking opportunities facilitated by the team have expanded the horizons of our programs at VOH, opening doors to new partnerships and collaborations essential for the development of all our initiatives.

The visit catalyzed motivation and inspiration, fostering a sense of hope and empowerment within both the VOH staff and children.

We express our gratitude to PAOZ for facilitating the team’s assistance. We hope that the connections established during this visit will evolve into enduring relationships that continue to bring hope to children in need!
