This week we are sharing pictures and stories from our Christmas Hope Packs distribution! Each of our centres has been busy shopping for and packing these gifts purchased with funds raised during our 2022 Christmas campaign.
We want to thank everyone who donated towards making this campaign a success! We also want to thank our staff for the hard work and care they put into making each pack special!
VOH Bwiza (Burundi)
We were so excited to distribute Christmas Hope Packs to our children at VOH Bwiza! We distributed the gift packs after the children completed two weeks of hard work preparing for and writing their government exams. The children were surprised and ecstatic to receive these generous gifts!
Our staff worked hard to purchase and pack each gift with love. The contents varied depending on the age, gender and hobbies of each child. The children received balls, hats, toys and games. Each child also received a beautiful T-shirt!
The kids could not contain their excitement and happiness as they opened their gifts. We are so grateful to each donor who generously gave to this fun and thoughtful campaign!
VOH Chongwe (Zambia)
Recently at VOH Chongwe, our children received their Christmas Hope Packs! They were so happy with what they found in their gift boxes and bags!
The Hope Packs contained a combination of clothes, toys and candy. The items were purchased locally with money raised in Canada and packed by staff at our Centre. Our team had so much fun shopping for and packing each one!
The children were so excited about their gifts; their happiness could be seen in their huge smiles!

VOH Kitwe (Zambia)
Recently at VOH Kitwe, we distributed Christmas Hope Packs! The kids were so excited when we gathered them all together and gave them each a brand-new backpack filled with special items they would ordinarily never imagine receiving.
There was so much anticipation as each child received and then began opening their Christmas pack!
The packs included colouring books, crayons, storybooks, and toys. The girls also received headbands and ribbons for their hair, and the older children received fancy paper, pencils and pens to write with.
All of us at VOH Kitwe would like to thank everyone who supported our Christmas Hope Pack campaign, making it possible to bring so much joy to our kids!
VOH Luongo (Zambia)
Gift time is a joyous time for any child. Recently at VOH Luongo, we distributed Christmas Hope Packs. The children were surprised and so happy with the gifts they received!
Each child received a backpack, a colouring book with crayons, a storybook, hair accessories, and toys. The older children also received some stationery.
Our staff were thrilled to see how joyful the children were, and so were the children’s parents and guardians, who were very grateful for these generous gifts.
The children of VOH Luongo are so thankful to everyone who donated to this campaign, making these presents possible. They’ll forever remember the love that you show them!
VOH Malawi
Recently at VOH Malawi, we distributed Christmas Hope Packs. When we told our children they would receive special gifts thanks to our friends in Canada, they were so excited and couldn’t wait for the big day!
The Hope Packs included various toys and a VOH Malawi T-shirt with a bible verse printed on it.
It was such a beautiful day filled with so much joy! It is lovely for the kids to know that someone somewhere is thinking of them and loves them so dearly.
The children’s parents and guardians were also thrilled and grateful to see their children so happy. We are thankful to everyone who donated to this campaign for allowing us to bless our children and their families in a fun and memorable way!
VOH Maramvya (Burundi)
Recently at VOH Maramvya, we had lots of fun distributing Christmas Hope Packs to our children! Some items included in the gift packs were clothing, sunglasses, hats, watches, toy cars, and dolls.
A group of staff led by VOH Maramvya Administrator, Nadine, shopped for, packed and then distributed the gifts. We began by distributing packs to our preschool children, calling each one up one at a time. The children waited patiently and loved watching what their friends were receiving!
There was cheering and high-fives amongst the kids as happiness burst within their hearts, and they began trying on their glasses and exploring the other items in their packs.
Once everyone received a pack, we took group photos, and there was lots of smiling, dancing, and showing each other the gifts they had received.
We want to thank every donor who contributed to our Christmas Hope Pack campaign and made it possible to bring so much joy and lasting memories to our children!
VOH Mongu (Zambia)
Christmas Hope Pack distribution at VOH Mongu was a huge success! Our team worked tirelessly to organize the distribution, which saw each family receiving a pack filled with toys, candy, and clothing.
The children’s faces lit up with joy as they eagerly opened their gifts while their mothers expressed gratitude and appreciation for the kind gesture.
We were especially moved by the impact of the clothing items, which will provide much-needed warmth and comfort during the upcoming chilly cold season.
The impact of this distribution on our community was apparent, and we are grateful to all the donors and participants who contributed to making it a success!
VOH Zimbabwe
They say, “Christmas comes but once a year,” which refers to the spirit of generosity and goodwill that characterizes the Christmas season. For our children at VOH Zimbabwe, though, it came a second time when we distributed Christmas Hope Packs.
With over 220 children receiving packs, the distribution was an exciting celebration for all! The smiles from the children were heartwarming. It was the first time for many of the children to receive such personalized gifts.
The packs included shoes, caps, deodorant, candy, lip gloss, and other fun things. It was such a happy time.
We are forever grateful to all that contributed towards this meaningful gesture of love and generosity!
