VOH Bulale (Tanzania) Update: Welcoming New Preschool Students!

VOH Bulale would like you to meet our new preschool children! We enrolled 14 new students into the program this year. Our staff did a careful recruitment procedure, ensuring girls received equal opportunities as boys. A new academic year is always full of excitement. Students move from one class to another and enjoy new activities. The smiles on the children’s faces make us feel hopeful and excited about the year ahead!

VOH Chongwe (Zambia) Update: Writing to Sponsors

It is letter writing time again at VOH Chongwe! the children are excited to communicate with their sponsors and let them know how they are doing. The children are all back from school break and enjoying the start of the new school year and new grades. They are so thankful that their sponsors want to hear from them and are grateful to their sponsors for their commitment and unwavering love and support.

VOH Kitwe (Zambia) Update: HEPS Porridge Delivery!

Our feeding program is one of the most important programs at our VOH Kitwe Centre. This week, the children were so excited to see the delivery of our HEPS porridge, which we serve daily. HEPS stands for “High Energy Protein Supplement.” The older children helped offload the bags while the younger children watched. We are filled with gratitude each time we see our children enjoy their cup of porridge because this is the only nutritious food many of them will eat all day. A big thank you to our donors and friends for making the feeding program at our Centre possible!

VOH Luongo (Zambia) Update: Teaching Literacy

Literacy is the backbone of every subject in and outside of school. This week at VOH Luongo, our teachers held a special meeting facilitated by Elizabeth, one of our VOH Luongo teachers. Elizabeth oriented the other teachers on what she learnt at the workshop organized by the Ministry of Education on Teaching Literacy using Jolly Phonics. The information shared is vital for the students’ literacy development in our school. The lessons involve games that will make learning to read and write exciting and fun!

VOH Malawi Update: Staff Devotions

Each week at VOH Malawi, our staff gather together for devotions to learn and share. It’s essential that as we disciple our VOH kids, we also continue growing in our knowledge of the Bible to teach and inspire the kids effectively. Our times together are positive and encouraging, and they help each of us know we are not alone. Last week was also special because we met outdoors on the patio of the new admin office for the first time! We are so very grateful for this new space and have already utilized it in so many ways. Previously, we met inside a classroom, but the new open space is perfect for our ever-growing team!

VOH Maramvya (Burundi) Update: Farming Update

It’s been about three months since we sowed seeds at our VOH Maramvya farm. Now we are in the harvest period! We started at the beginning of the rainy season in October. We are so grateful for Pascal, who is in charge of our agriculture program. He does everything necessary to ensure the harvest is good. The harvest included soybeans, which we will use to make nutritious porridge for the children, and thanks to Pascal, we harvested even more than expected!

VOH Mongu (Zambia) Update: David and Goliath

This week at VOH Mongu, the children learned the story of David and Goliath during their discipleship class. After hearing about David and Goliath, they expressed themselves through drawings and paintings. It’s exciting to see how our kids love to get involved in school activities that benefit their spiritual and social growth. Some activities cross age boundaries, and we love how our kids are constantly exploring their creative sides, becoming more talented and gifted every day! We are so grateful to offer new ways of teaching our children. We know their times together will help them build relationships and love one another.

VOH Mwanza (Tanzania) Update: Guests of Honour!

This week at VOH Mwanza, we are so happy to see our children receive a special invitation to be the guests of honour at an African-themed fashion show at Isamilo International School (IISM) in Mwanza. Being honourable guests came with the exciting opportunity to walk down the Black Panther-themed runway! It was a fun evening, and we are happy to see such inclusion. Our children were filled with confidence and joy as they participated in the event and made many new friends. Thank you to Faudhia and Roxanne for this event; it was a memorable time for our children!
