Celebrating the VOH Community: this week at VOH Africa

Here’s what’s happening this week at Villages of Hope-Africa…

Kitwe: Creating the Chapel Wall

A recent team visiting VOH Kitwe did a beautiful job painting our logo on the chapel wall. This past week we had our children from preschool to grade 12 participate in putting their handprints on the painted wall.

This project was exciting and memorable for everyone and it serves as a constant reminder that everything we do at VOH is to provide love, care, and discipleship to our children.

Burundi: Meet Zena

VOH Burundi would like to introduce Zena. After her father passed away, her mother remarried and her stepfather did not want to support Zena or her siblings.

Zena left school to care for her younger brothers and sisters until she heard about VOH through her church. Zena and two of her siblings became part of the VOH Burundi school program in 2011.

Zena always dreamed of being a doctor and after recently graduating from grade 12, receiving continued support through VOH Burundi allowed her to enrol in health studies at University.

As part of her schooling, she is also getting practical training at a nearby clinic. We are so thankful for all of our friends and sponsors who make these life changing stories possible!

Chongwe: Fundraising Tea Party

Last week VOH Chongwe organized a fundraising Tea Party where we invited our local partners and people from our community to come and hear about all that is happening at the Village. The goal of our event was to raise funds locally that will help us provide care for our children.

Costantino, who grew up at VOH Kitwe, was the Master of Ceremony for the afternoon and people really enjoyed him!

The event was a great success and we thank our local partners for their encouragement and support!

Malawi: Celebrating Our Students

This week at VOH Malawi we had an end of the school year party. We invited all the children, their caregivers, and community leaders. We celebrated the graduation of our kindergarten class and those who received top marks. There was music, singing, dancing, and joy in equal measure!

Mongu: Climbing Trees!

The girls at VOH Mongu absolutely love climbing trees! They get lots of good practice in mango season as they go up in the trees to pick delicious mangos. They don’t shy away from a good climb the rest of the year, either. Here are Mwangala and Helen, two girls from the children’s homes climbing the trees at the school. We love our fun family!

Mwanza: Celebrating our House Mothers

At VOH Mwanza we are so blessed by our house mothers. We have 11 amazing house mothers who daily show love and compassion and put the needs of the children above their own.

They love and care for each child and create a warm family environment. The moms work together to keep all things running smoothly in the children’s homes and always have a smile to share.

We are so grateful for these beautiful ladies and their commitment to serve children. We couldn’t do what we do as a village without them!
