Mongu: Computer Classes
VOH Mongu is so excited for our students who are taking extra computer classes in school under the instruction of short-term volunteer Samantha. The Grade 8 students are learning so much about how to organize files, how to type, and how to use word documents so they are more equipped for their futures.
These students are passionate about learning and, especially with something that doesn’t come easily, they are more determined than ever to excel. We are so excited to see how these opportunities help them to grow and to one day become leaders in their communities!
Burundi: Preschool Tests
At VOH Burundi the 3 and 4-year-old children who attend our preschool completed a small test. The idea is for us to see what things the children are doing well with and what things they need help with. We also want the children to become comfortable with writing tests while they are young so it is not difficult for them later as they progress with their schooling.
It is very encouraging to see how serious and committed young girls and boys are!
Chongwe: Grade 7 Exams
At VOH Chongwe the students have already begun writing their end of second term tests. The grade seven classes are writing regional examinations in preparation for the final junior examinations, which will be held in October this year. We wish them all the best of luck!
Kenya: New School Shoes!
Children at VOH Kenya received new school shoes thanks to our generous Canadian supporters. The children’s feet are looking smart and feeling comfortable and the kids are all smiles!
Kitwe: Clinic Ministry
Each morning before the clinic opens at VOH Kitwe, the clinic staff take a few minutes to give health tips and pray with the caregivers and patients that have come to receive care that day. After this time together each patient is seen individually. This has proven to be a great way to provide holistic care to those in our community!
Malawi: End of School Year!
This week at VOH Malawi we celebrated the end of the school year with a party for everyone. We played games, ate special food, gave away prizes, danced, sang and congratulated the students for their excellent work at school.
Zimbabwe: Arts and Culture Exhibit
The school continues to shine at VOH Zimbabwe with various academic awards being received at a provincial level. The children also enter arts and culture exhibitions organized by the Ministry of Education. Of particular note is Milton, who won first prize after making a mobile recycling bin and a spider web.
Mwanza: Special Needs Education
The students of the special needs class at VOH Mwanza Primary are very excited to welcome Rose, a bright young girl who has come to volunteer to teach and work with them according to their needs. Rose is happy to have this chance and is using it to show love and to stimulate the children physically and mentally.
Latest Director’s Blog: “Psalm 42”
For the past couple of months, I have been memorizing Psalm 42. I use a specific technique that helps one memorize large portions of scripture. This technique is based on reading and reciting a passage 10 times each day for 100 days. In addition to reading and reciting the passage one also contemplates on the passage throughout the days. This allows one to become intimate with the passage…Read more
