Ministry of Health Visits Clinic
VOH Chongwe continues to improve the lives of the people within our community by offering quality health services. The government continues to be happy with the quality of free medical care we provide. This week a group of student doctors visited our clinic and said that they were overwhelmed by the services being offered!
Christmas Celebrations
VOH Kitwe:
We had a grand time celebrating the Festive Season. It was a memorable occasion for the children because some were awarded for their performance. Local Board members were excited to be part of the occasion, presenting awards to the children. There was also an acknowledgement for the best managed house for the year 2015. Staff and children had fun as we ate nice food together!
VOH Malawi:
We hosted a spectacular Christmas party at the Kauma Project feeding program! We invited the family members of all of the children who attend and had over 100 people. We gave out Christmas hampers to each child filled with gifts for them and their families and joined together for a splendid meal of rice, chicken, and vegetables, which are the traditional Christmas dishes here. Every tummy was full of food, every heart was full of joy, and every face was full of smiles. It was one of the greatest events of 2015 for VOH Malawi.
A spokesperson for the families we reach in Kauma expressed their heartfelt thanks to the many Canadians who make this project possible by their faithful donations. Please allow us to pass on their sincere gratitude. It was expressed with beautiful eloquence and complete sincerity words fail to convey.
VOH Mwanza:
We had a wonderful time celebrating christmas! We ate, we laughed, we praised God. We had an amazing celebration on Christmas eve with our whole community and all of our Mamas’ families from outside the Village. Our kids performed songs, dances, and an amazing Christmas Story skit. It was an event to remember for sure. We’re grateful for an amazing year and we look forward to all that God has in store for 2016.
VOH Burundi Report Cards
Before we closed preschool for the Christmas holidays at VOH Burundi, we gathered the children together one last time to review the things we had learned throughout the term. The children were then presented with their report cards. It was a wonderful opportunity to invite the community and let them see and hear about what we have been doing with the 3, 4 and 5 year old preschool children. The guardians greatly appreciated the help being given to their children as we prepare them to enter grade one. Many of those who came to share this day with the children said how much they appreciated us doing something positive and helpful for their children. The community took this opportunity to say a big thank you to the VOH staff.
Friendship at VOH Mongu
At VOH Mongu we are always happy to show love to children like Emmanuel who just recently joined our fifth children’s home. Not only do the mothers and aunties in our children’s homes take great care to treat their children as their own, our other children do as well. Gift, who is 8 years old, spent the afternoon playing with Emmanuel to help him feel more comfortable in his new environment. We love to see this Christ-like attitude reflected in our children!
Back to School
VOH Zimbabwe started the first day back to school with team building and training for the staff. Meanwhile, the children were excited to be back at class with their friends!
