Construction at VOH Mongu: This Week at Villages of Hope

Check out what's been going on this week at Villages of Hope-Africa...

VOH Mongu Construction

2015.09.04 MONGUConstruction of our new Children’s Hospital at VOH Mongu is progressing well and the excitement is high around the village as we see the various stages progress! Pictured are the foundations of the future theatre and recovery area. The building will be used as a clinic until the rest of the hospital is built, to relieve the pressure on our current clinic. Tom Chinga, our building foreman, is making sure everything starts straight and level.

Also underway are the administration and assessment rooms where the patients will come first before being referred to the relevant section of the hospital.

VOH Burundi Preschool Students Advance!

2015.09.04 BURUNDIVOH Burundi celebrates with the Hope Preschool students whose teacher qualified them for primary school this coming year. These children are a bit older than their classmates when they started preschool and they have done very well and are ready to move ahead.

In this photo they are so happy to have just heard about the exciting news that they will be attending primary school this September 2015!

VOH Kenya Swahili Lessons

2015.09.04 KENYAStudents at VOH Kenya enjoy getting fresh air and exercise during their recess break from Swahili language class. Swahili is a challenging class for them as they learn to speak and write in Swahili. Learning Swahili will help prepare them for high school and future success in their communities, as Swahili is the common business language used throughout Kenya.

The children come to VOH knowing their own tribal language and through teachings at the School, they will learn both Swahili and English.

VOH Malawi Family Visitors

2015.09.04 MALAWIAt VOH Malawi our children sometimes receive visits from their extended families. Recently, both of these girls spent time with their relatives. Along with smiles they also brought a large food donation to help with the care of their loved ones. It’s always very special when the children have time with their extended families.

Child Protection Training at VOH Mwanza

2015.09.04 MWANZAAt VOH Mwanza we enjoy our training sessions on Child Protection led by Village Director, Julius Kenyamanyara. These sessions are a wonderful time for our whole staff to come together and learn more about keeping children safe and helping them reach their full potential. These training sessions bring us back to why we are here in the first place: to give vulnerable children hope!

VOH Zimbabwe Choir

2015.09.04 ZIMBABWEVOH Zimbabwe children made up the bulk of the choir at a recent Gospel Crusade hosted by Hope Community Church. They love the opportunity to be involved in the meetings and it is a great way to ensure they feel a part of all that goes on around the Village.
