Chief Olang Visits VOH Kenya
VOH Kenya was recently honored by a visit from the Chief of Obumba, Mr. Aloice Olang. Chief Olang, his assistant, and some community police members stopped by VOH Kenya to inspect the site of the new high school and the temporary placement of the grade 9 students. They were given a guided tour of the children’s homes and school. Chief Olang was very impressed with everything he saw, including the members of the VOH Kenya family he had a chance to speak with.
This new relationship between VOH Kenya and Chief Olang will help with future school registration, as well as the security at the Village. His partnership speaks volumes to the community about the impact and place that VOH has within Kenya.
VOH Chongwe Shares at Local Church
VOH Chongwe received the opportunity at our local church to share about the ministry at the Village. The Village Director took time to give a brief history, and explained the vision as well as some of the challenges being faced. She also explained how local sponsors can partner with the Village to help us bring hope to children in need. The children ministered through songs like “Thank you for giving to the Lord” and they also presented poems and bible memory verses. The staff were given an opportunity to lead the church service in praise and worship songs. We appreciate our local church for hosting this VOH Chongwe promotion!
Bibles for VOH Kitwe!
Last week the children and youth at VOH Kitwe woke up to a wonderful surprise! It all started when a couple in Canada decided to purchase Bibles and have them shipped in this year’s Boxes of Love container. When the container arrived, true to the word of this couple, the Bibles were a part of the shipment and have already been distributed to the students. The students are very thrilled to have their own Bible and are treating them with great care.
Making Nsima at VOH Malawi
Once each month several of the VOH Malawi Housemothers take 1000 kgs of maize kernels to the local maize mill to be ground into a maize flour called ufa. Ufa is used to make nsima, a staple food here in Malawi eaten at most meals. The ufa they are milling today will be eaten in all ten of our children’s homes, and will also support our feeding program for a full month.

VOH Mwanza on TV!
Last week VOH Mwanza was very excited to have a local TV station–STAR TV–come film a special about the Village and our children. They spent a whole day and they performed interviews, did a Q & A session, and filmed a few performances from our kids (song and dance). Everyone had a great time and it was a good experience for all. We received a copy of the taping and plan to show everyone at the Village, which will be huge thrill. We are always happy when local media wants to get involved and learn more about VOH; this type of exposure to the nation of Tanzania helps us spread our message of hope!
