We are so thankful for all the staff who dedicate their time to caring for the VOH children, and each of them has an inspiring story, which is why we like to feature them on our blog–so you can get to know those who are helping us care for children in need.
Today we are featuring two of the teachers who help us educate the children of VOH Zimbabwe…

“The most important thing that the Village of Hope has helped me with is the spiritual transformation of my life.”
Village of Hope Location: VOH Zimbabwe
Position at village of hope: Teacher
Been working with VOH since: January 2009
What is your story before coming to Village of Hope?
I was teaching in the rural areas of Zimbabwe. I started my teaching career in Mudzi, the last school before we cross into Mozambique. It was very remote; there was a serious shortage of water, transport, health facilities and other basic human needs. There was no entertainment and as a result I started drinking alcohol excessively. My life was self-centred. I would even spend the whole year in the remote areas without visiting anyone, even my parents.
What is the story behind how you first came to know about Village of Hope?
In 2008 when the economy of Zimbabwe was at its lowest, I came to Harare to find how I could make ends meet. I came across an advert for a grade seven teacher. I applied and I was invited for an interview. I was successful in the first interview and was invited for the second interview.
I was successful and I got the position of grade seven teacher at the VOH.
How has Village of Hope helped you?
The most important thing that the Village of Hope has helped me with is the spiritual transformation of my life. I got saved and accepted Jesus as my personal saviour and Lord. My life since then has never been the same. I have grown to love and appreciate children more. I am very involved in hope community church.
Currently, I am four modules from finishing a diploma course in transformational church leadership. I have grown in my spiritual life and my life in general; it has tremendously improved.
Any final words?
The work being done at the Village of Hope is so inspiring. The transformation of life is so evident, not only in the children we minister to, but even all adults who minister at this place have had their lives positively impacted by the Village of Hope.

I came to know about Village of Hope when I moved to Harare. I got there for the first time when I heard that there was a school. By that time I was looking for grade 1 and 2 places for my children.

Village of Hope has helped me in many ways. It has given me employment for the past five years. My spiritual life has improved so much. I have learnt to appreciate life in a better way. My three children are becoming mighty workers in the house of the lord.
Our lives have improved greatly through Village of Hope.
