It was a big week at VOH Malawi! Every child, mother, and auntie got to plant a fruit tree around our village. We did it by homes and then prayed holding hands around the last planted tree for the family. We now have a total of 100 guava, pear, lemon, mango, and avocado trees that will be producing fruit in 2 years time!

VOH Burundi had a great time with Uncle Sergio Bersaglio (VOH Director) when he visited last week. While he was with us, we continued to make plans for the future of VOH in Burundi and Uncle Sergio was also able to continue training staff members on VOH-A child protection policies. Everybody was interested in learning more about how to care for and protect the children.

VOH is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for children and members of staff and therefore we take the opportunity to regularly teach how to recognize and respond to children’s needs and any concerns of abuse. This past week one of the Elementary School Teachers at VOH Kitwe had an exciting child protection workshop facilitated by our child protection officer, George Zyambo. The teachers learned personal safety skills and will now pass this training on to the students.
