Ingenuity at VOH Kitwe

Thursday 1 - Kitwe

VOH Kitwe Director, Everlyn Chitente was approached this week by Victor-from one of the children’s homes at VOH Kitwe-was excited to show Everlyn what he invented! He wanted to find a way to irrigate the garden with a slow flow of water from a storage tank – the water flows from a tap into a small storage container and then goes out through a small hose and into the nearby garden as drip irrigation.

Victor also planted a stick in the ground where he has put a small fan and light bulb to light the area in the night. He told Everlyn “I am using my mind, because one day I may not have a job and making these could be my job.” Well done, Victor!

VOH Burundi Children Create “Love Symbol”

Monday 2 - Burundi

Each day once the VOH Burundi students have their lessons and meal, they are given time to play and have fun together. This week some of the children drew a heart in the dirt, they called it the “Love Symbol”.  They played their games within the symbol that they drew. The teacher present was so happy to see the hopelessness that was once showing in their eyes has been replaced with love, peace, and joy and so he took this picture to share with everyone who has been a part of the ministry in Burundi!

Medical Check-ups at VOH Mwanza

Wednesday 2 - Mwanza

This week at VOH Mwanza we ran the children’s annual medical checkups. Three doctors that work/volunteer at various Mwanza hospitals came with some helpers and did medical checkups for 55 children. Two doctors will be back next week to finish off the remaining children.

Keeping our children healthy is a big priority. Special thanks to the doctors and helpers that gave up their free time on a public holiday to make this happen!
