Helping & Empowering Widows at VOH-Kenya

VOH Kenya sewing project

The Obwoso Widows project at VOH-Kenya teaches widows to sew and the items they make are sold locally. The women keep 70% of the funds raised through sales to support themselves and their family and 30% is put back into the project for the women to purchase more supplies. The women also do any necessary repairs to the clothes worn by the children at VOH.

In addition to providing for themselves and their families, many of the women have also been able to join adult education classes with a portion of the funds that they earn through clothing sales!
