This Week: Celebrating our Staff

VOH Bwiza (Burundi) Update: Preparing for Exams

At VOH Bwiza, our children are working hard to prepare for their second-term exams. Nutrition plays a vital role in intellectual development and wellness, and we are thankful we can provide two meals a day for students during their exam prep. We are grateful for those who work hard to prepare the daily meals and our donors who make the extra meals possible!

VOH Chongwe (Zambia) Update: 50 New Preschool Students!

Here at VOH Chongwe, it is always a joy to see new little faces enter our classrooms for the first time. This year we are happy to announce we have 50 new children in our preschool class! Some of these children have benefited from the off-site feeding program even before entering preschool. We are so happy to see them in school now. The children are thrilled to be in class and are already enjoying school. We want to thank our donors and sponsors for making this possible and putting smiles on the children’s faces!

VOH Kitwe (Zambia) Update: Child Safeguarding Self-Audit

One of the core values of VOH Kitwe is to take care of our children holistically. One of the many ways we achieve this is through our Child Safeguarding Policy. This week, our Lead Team conducted a Child Safeguarding self-audit. Through self-audits, we can see gaps in staff training and ensure everyone is familiar and up-to-date with our policies. The audit was spearhead by the Child Safeguarding Officer.

VOH Luongo (Zambia) Update: Visit from the Board

At VOH Luongo, we love receiving visitors! This week, our Director Everlyn Chitente and the VOH Kitwe Local board and Lead Team visited. They came to see the finished school building and were delighted with everything! The chairperson for the local board encouraged the students and teachers and thanked them for their hard work. All of us here at VOH Luongo appreciated the visit and support!

VOH Malawi Update: Appreciating Mr. Mwawa

This week at VOH Malawi, we would like to celebrate one of our teachers, Mr. Mwawa. He has seen all the transitions over the years and is always very supportive. He is a self-motivated leader who has a heart for the kids. He is always working hard, which is why he recently took on the role of headteacher and director of education!

VOH Mongu (Zambia) Update: Cleaning the School Grounds

This week was a fantastic week at VOH Mongu! The children were so excited to help out with maintenance on the school grounds. The students are so hardworking and committed to keeping their surroundings clean, and we are so proud of them. They learn that a bit of discipline and commitment are all it takes to keep their school clean and welcoming to everyone.

VOH Zimbabwe Update: Congratulations, Mr. Matande!

This week AT VOH Zimbabwe, we are celebrating one of our staff members, Mr. Matande, on his wedding day! Mr. Matande was the first groundsman at our VOH Zimbabwe centre and was assigned to care for the school grounds. He earned himself the name “Sekuru (Uncle) CHAPS” as his nickname. Sekuru CHAPS has been loyal to VOH and is a key member of the STAR Satellite community, where we run one of our outreach programs. He is vital in mobilizing the community to get involved in our activities and encourages the community to play their part in reaching out to children in their area and directing them to our program. We wish him and his wife all the happiness in their marriage!
