Chongwe: Girl Guides Visit!

This week we were excited to have the Girl Guide Association of Zambia come and visit it us here at VOH Chongwe. We started our own Girl Guides Club back in 2016 and it was wonderful to be included in the Girl Guide international tour currently taking place.

Girl Guide members visited us from Rwanda, Kenya, and Uganda. It was wonderful to have them share songs, teachings and the importance of Girl Guides and also how important it is for our students to focus on their studies.

We had a great time together and look forward to more visits in the future!

Burundi: Annual Review

At the beginning of every year, VOH Burundi conducts an evaluation of the previous year and reviews plans for the coming year. On this occasion, the staff and volunteers are also given an opportunity to elect among themselves, the best employees of the previous year. We are excited for these 5 employees who have been elected by their workmates for 2017. We are thankful for their dedication to Village Of Hope and their commitment to care for our VOH Burundi children!

Kitwe: Community Maintenance

VOH Kitwe School has a maintenance schedule that provides the students with an opportunity to help our landscapers clean and maintain the area surrounding the school. This is done in order to instill in our children the importance of keeping their surroundings clean.

While learning this at school, we encourage the students to do the same at home both today and in the future. The kids are always pleased to see the immediate results of a clean and tidy school after their hard work!

Malawi: Keeping Children Safe

This week at VOH Malawi we were happy to have Canadian volunteer Rebecca with us. During her visit, she spent two days leading our staff through the Keeping Children Safe workbook. There was a lot of content to cover but we’re proud of everyone for leaning into it. It was a valuable experience for all. Thanks, Rebecca!

Mongu: Outside Playtime!

The kids at the VOH Mongu Children’s Homes are loving the nice, cool weather brought from the heavy rains that Mongu has been getting. For the young children who are not yet in school and the children who only go to school half-days, this means lots and lots of playtime and games outside!

The children are so creative and love to play new games with sticks and balls, draw pictures in the sand, and play all kinds of fun games with their house moms and aunties.

Mwanza: Feeding over 350 Children!

At VOH Mwanza we have the privilege of feeding over 350 children every day through our feeding program. Our staff works very hard to ensure that meals and snacks are nutritious and prepared in a safe way to provide the very best nutrition for our kids! We know if they are getting the proper nutrition they will be healthier and as a result, they will also perform better in their studies.

Zimbabwe: Meet Kundi

VOH Zimbabwe welcomes 1 ½-year-old Kundi, a little boy who was brought to us by the Department of Social Services. Sadly, Kundi’s mother abandoned him, but we welcome him with open arms and know that he has found a loving home and family here at VOH. We pray that he feels hope for a bright future as he grows up and experiences God’s love through the care that we provide.
