Thank you for attending our Evenings of Hope!
First, we want to thank everyone who attended our Evenings of Hope events across Canada! We had over 300 people attend and received a generous response towards our preschool enrollment project!
It was wonderful to also have VOH Malawi Director Jef Walton join Nancy, Samuel, Patricia, and Richard at the Mississauga and Waterloo Evenings of Hope. We were excited to have so many friends of VOH attend the six dinners and it was a real treat to have Jef join us for the two Ontario events!
Jef brought an update on Malawi and the new Kauma project and shared an inspiring poem. It was also great to have Murray Cornelius (E.D. of PAOC International Missions) with us at the two Ontario events and to learn about the early days of the ministry of VOH.
We’d like to say a big thank you to each person who participated in this year’s Evenings of Hope and to each guest who took the time to attend and support our ministry!
Burundi: An Update on Enock
VOH Burundi would like to share an update on Enock and his mother Antoinette who sadly has been the victim of rape on more than one occasion. Antoinette has been helped by VOH Burundi for several years and the VOH family has been more than a parent to Antoinette, teaching her to read and to write, and helping her successfully complete a cooking program at a local trade school.
While Antoinette has studied and prepared herself to find work, Enock has found a home at Village of Hope. He is a healthy, happy, and friendly boy who has been cared for by VOH Burundi from birth.
We are so thankful we are able to offer a brighter future filled with hope for both mother and child through our ministry!
Chongwe: Exam Preparation
At VOH Chongwe our Grade 7 and 9 students will be writing their final exams soon! It’s the desire of each teacher that their students do well on their exams and they are working hard to prepare them.
In addition to reviewing the material that will be on the exams, the teachers are also helping the students know how to study for and write exams. It’s important the students are able to answer all of the questions on the exams within the one-hour provided for each subject.
Please pray for good health and great exam results for our children in the coming weeks.
Kitwe: Old Friends Pay a Visit
This past week VOH Kitwe was happy to receive a visit from longtime friends, Bishop Raphael and his wife Pastor Margaret Mwamba. For many years Bishop Mwamba was the pastor of the Beracha Church where our children attend and although they have moved out of the area, they always stop by to say hello when they are in Kitwe.
The Mwambas brought a donation of clothing and a bale of sugar for us to enjoy in the children’s homes. We are so grateful for their ongoing support and friendship!
Mwanza: Field Trip!
Recently at VOH Mwanza our Pre-school classes were very excited to go on a field trip. We went to a nearby beach and were able to play on the beach and on the playground. From the moment the kids got on the bus they were excited! They stayed at the beach most of the day. After lots of play, they ate lunch together before returning to school. It is wonderful to offer them this fun day off!
Zimbabwe: Congratulations, Pamela!
VOH Zimbabwe celebrates with Pamela who graduated last Friday with a bachelor’s degree in accounting! After their parents both passed away, Pamela and her brother Daniel moved to Village of Hope where they were given the opportunity to continue their education and be part of a family again.
We are very proud of how hard Pamela has worked and all that she has achieved! Doors have already begun opening up for Pamela; she started a new job with an insurance company right after graduation.
Thank you to Pamela’s housemother and teachers and to her sponsors and other friends of VOH who helped make this great day possible!
