Merry Christmas from all of us at VOH!

The holiday season is here and Christmas is right around the corner. We want to take this time to wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and all the best in the new year. From all of our locations, we thank you for all of your prayers, love, and generous support. We couldn’t continue our work of bringing hope to children in need without each of you!

Burundi: Decorating for Christmas!

Here at VOH Burundi, children are busy preparing for Christmas! This involves drawing and coloring decorations. The children even use Canadian objects and colors in recognition of our Canadian sponsors so we can celebrate together in spirit. We are looking forward to the big celebration!

Chongwe: Preparing for our Christmas Feast!

At VOH Chongwe we want our children to grow up to be independent and responsible. This is why all of them have daily chores and responsibilities. The housemothers do a great job teaching the children how to prepare the meals. This week the boys were learning how to prepare vegetables and beef, next week they will all be working on a Christmas meal!

Kitwe: Christmas Letters for Sponsors

The year is coming to an end and a lot of activities are going on at VOH Kitwe. The housemothers are busy planting the gardens for the homes with help from the children. At school, the students are helping clean windows in preparation for the Christmas break. The kids are also taking time to send a special Christmas letter to their sponsors. It’s an exciting time of year!

Malawi: Christmas Hampers

This week at VOH Malawi we are giving out Christmas hampers to each child in our program. Thanks to Calvary Pentecostal Church in Strathroy, Ontario each child is receiving a huge 50kg bag of maize, which is a staple food in their homes.

The hamper itself contains soap, 1 kg of rice, 1 kg of red beans, 1 kg of sugar, 1 kg of salt, a toothbrush, some toothpaste, 2 types of body lotion, 1 L of cooking oil, 6 candles, matches and the bucket and lid itself. In addition, each hamper includes a new mosquito net for each child. Quality mosquito nets are the best defense against the constant threat of Malaria.

The children were all so excited to receive their Christmas hampers!

Mongu: Christmas Decorating!

The Children’s Homes at VOH Mongu are decorating for Christmas and the kids are so excited to celebrate Jesus’ birth in just a few weeks! This is always such a special time for our VOH family as we begin to look back at the year and celebrate all God has done.

We are blown away by the outpouring of love from so many people across the world and consider ourselves so blessed to play a part in what God is doing in the lives of these kids!

Mwanza: Holiday Activities!

At VOH Mwanza we are getting into the Christmas spirit with lots of fun Christmas activities and decorating! Recently, the kids enjoyed a movie day on the big screen with popcorn and spent time making Christmas cards for their mamas and aunties. The older kids also took part in a scavenger hunt and all the kids have been participating in an ongoing soccer tournament.

Zimbabwe: Christmas Display

The children at VOH Zimbabwe had a special Christmas display to celebrate the season! Christmas is about Christ coming as a child to the world. When the children understand this, they can relate, which brings the story to life and reminds them of their importance.
