VOH Kitwe Pays it Forward: This week at Villages of Hope

Check out what's been going on this week at Villages of Hope-Africa...

VOH Kitwe Pays it Forward

IMG_0170VOH Kitwe has been reaching out to the surrounding communities in so many ways. In addition to being able to share used desks with a nearby school earlier this year and holding gospel outreach programs, VOH has most recently been able to share infant clothing that we received from our partners.

We were blessed by this gift and we had enough to be able to extend this blessing to the mothers in the surrounding communities. Mothers came in numbers and were very excited to receive clothes for their babies.

It was indeed an exciting moment for mothers! The moms expressed gratitude for this rare gesture and a mother with twins thanked God for VOH and their partners for seeing their plight and helping.

VOH Chongwe Learns about Heart Disease

IMG_0173Last week at VOH Chongwe, the resident children and Mother Agnes, the Senior house mom, were invited by the Local Ministry of Health to attend the launch of the Rheumatic Heart Disease Prevention program in Chongwe. We were taught how to prevent heart disease and how to recognize the symptoms of heart trouble and also how to treat the disease. It was a very informative time and we were happy to have been included in the launch of this important program.

Preparing for Back to School at VOH Kenya

IMG_0169This week is the start of a new school term at VOH Kenya. The children are all taking part and helping in the clean up of both the area around the school and the area around the Children’s Homes. They are helping sweep, mop, slash grass, wash dishes, desks, and school clothing so everything looks nice and clean come Monday. The children have had a month off and are now happy for school to start again!

VOH Malawi Gardens

IMG_0168VOH Malawi has worked hard to have good vegetable gardens and the gardens provide most of the vegetables eaten in the children’s home. Each home has a garden they are responsible to take care of and to harvest as the vegetables are ready.
The children enjoy working in the garden and are excited to see food grow from just small seeds! While working in the gardens, the moms take the opportunity to teach the children about gardening and also about sharing responsibilities around the home.

VOH Zimbabwe Clinic Application Approved!

IMG_0172This week has been a great week for the VOH Zimbabwe Clinic! We received a letter confirming the approval of our application to be a part of the Zimbabwe association of church related health institutions. The next day we received a call that they had liquid soap to donate to the clinic. When we went to pick it up we were given 475 litres of liquid soap suitable for walls floors and linen! What a blessing!
