First Trade Show at VOH Kitwe

VOH Kitwe Trade Show

This past week VOH Kitwe held its first annual Trade Fair for grades 9-12. The students were shown five different small business ideas that they will be able to choose to learn more about. Included in the demonstrations were business plans for each option.

The students were really excited to see the different opportunities that were presented: Sewing, kitting (using needles as well as a recently donated knitting machine), popcorn making, metal bending and block making.

Many of those in attendance shared that they feel very encouraged, knowing they will be able to learn skills that will allow them to provide for themselves and their families.

Stay tuned for more pictures, student quotes, and videos from this great event!

VOH Burundi Bwiza Center

VOH Burundi - bwiza center

The Bwiza Center at VOH Burundi is located in the middle of a large shanty compound and provides a feeding program, tutoring, and bible classes.

Most people in the area live in extreme poverty and although they may be able to provide their children with a place to live, they are often not able to afford to provide them with schooling, proper nutrition or medical care. When Village of Hope moves into a community and begins to care for the vulnerable children in the area, the impact on those in the community is very positive.

In this picture, Alphonse, the father of Alice & Angela, two VOH girls that we are providing education and a daily feeding program for, has been touched by the care that has been shown to his daughters. Alphonse describes himself as someone who was formerly a drunkard and unable to care for his children. Now, he is changing and as a way of showing his appreciation to VOH Burundi, he is busy helping to build a new kitchen for our feeding program!

Recently, VOH Mongu was happy to receive a team from Australia! Everyone had a lot of fun together and the children’s favorite activity was making masks and then playing and acting with them. Thanks to everyone involved in making this fun time possible for the children!

VOH Malawi - water

VOH Malawi would like to say a huge thank you to Child Legacy International for coming to our Village and fixing the water hand pump. Everyone is very happy to once again have a steady stream of water whenever it is needed. The children let out a huge cheer when the water began to flow!

A Moment of Silence for Victims of Kenya Attack

VOH Kenya - day of silence

This past week at VOH-Kenya we flew the flag at half-mast and all of the children and staff bowed their heads and had one minute of silence and a prayer for all the victims lost, injured, or missing in the recent attack in Nairobi.

VOH Mwanza Opens New Home

VOH Mwanza - new home

VOH Mwanza opens a new children’s home! We are currently in the processes of reconfiguring the children’s homes and adding new homes to help reduce the number of children that live in each one. We are also staggering the ages and the mix of boys and girls, which will allow each home to be able to live like a family!
