Sports Day at VOH Mongu: This Week at Villages of Hope

Check out what's been going on this week at Villages of Hope-Africa...

Sports Day at VOH Mongu

MonguThe school at VOH Mongu held their annual first term Sports Day on 27 March. After several weeks of training and preparations, the day showcased the athletic talents of all the students. Many parents, caregivers and staff members came to enjoy the activities.
A highlight for all was watching the grade 1 students participate in the sack race, as well as watching the older students’ high jump competition. We congratulate our students and teachers on a job well done!

Rev. Murray Cornelius Visits VOH Burundi

BurundiVOH Burundi was very happy to receive a visit from Rev. Murray Cornelius, the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada Director of International Missions. After touring the Bwiza Center and Children’s homes, Murray encouraged the children through God’s word and prayed for them. It was a big blessing to have him among us!

VOH Chongwe’s New Boardroom

ChongweThis week VOH Chongwe was happy to welcome VOH Malawi Directors Jef & Renatta Walton to our Village. The Waltons came for a week of training and were joined by Chongwe Director Shaline Mwenya, and Uncle Serge and Auntie Nancy who were all a part of the training process. It was great to be able to host them in our new boardroom!

VOH Kenya School Update

KenyaThis is the last week of school before a month long break at VOH Kenya. The children are very busy writing exams and the teachers and staff are busy preparing for the next term. We held a staff meeting where everyone gathered to hear about the success of this last school term and to hear reports from each department. We also celebrated the opening of the new library, and introduced everyone to the new teaching staff for the grade 9 class. It was a great time together welcoming our newcomers and discussing plans and hopes for the future!

Clean Water at VOH Kitwe

KitweVOH Kitwe is very thankful for the good supply of safe water that we enjoy at the Village. Last year we were blessed with a water tank, tower, and borehole to help us provide the much-needed water for the children as well as for the increasing number of gardens at the Village.
A new initiative will ensure the children in younger grades will always have clean drinking water close by. We place containers of fresh, clean drinking water in each of the younger grade classrooms. The children love to use these new water-dispensing units and are happy to always have clean drinking water available right in their classrooms.

VOH Zimbabwe Launches Community Feeding Program

ZimbabweVOH Zimbabwe is happy to announce the launch of a feeding program we’ve started in the community nearby. There are many children in need of a nutritious meal in this area, and we are thankful to be able to begin to providing this for them.
On the first day we had 76 children attend, but we know numbers will rise significantly in the coming days. Thanks very much to those whose donations have made this new ministry possible!
