We love to catch up with the graduates of Villages of Hope to see what they are up to and how they are contributing to their communities, which is why we created this series called “Where are They Now?”

Location: VOH Zimbabwe

Been a part of VOH since: 2008

What is your story before connecting with Village of Hope?

My parents (mother and step father) started attending the church located at Village of Hope Zimbabwe, and through them I used to receive donated items likes shoes and clothes. My stepfather was working but his income was not enough to send me to school because he also had other children to take care of.

In 2007 I joined the VOH after-school discipleship program. In 2008 I got a sponsor and started attending the VOH school in grade 6 until eventually I sat for the national form 4 (grade 11) exam in 2013 after attending the VOH schools for 6 years.

I never had any shortage of learning resources up until I finished my secondary school. VOH is a good Christian community that has helped a number of youth and young people like me in different ways. Many orphaned children and even adults are helped by the village.

What are you doing now and what are your dreams for the future?

At the moment I am doing some small building jobs at the village while I wait to start studies at a technical teachers’ college.

How has VOH helped you get to where you are today and become the person you are today?

I was lost and now I am found. I had a bleak future but now I am full of Hope for VOH has prepared for me a very bright path to walk in. I was not saved but now I am a follower of Christ. I never dreamt big or imagined myself getting the kind of education I ended up receiving. Now I am pursuing my studies to be a building teacher with the help of VOH.
