Building at VOH Kenya: This Week at Villages of Hope

Check out what's been going on this week at Villages of Hope-Africa...

Building at VOH Kenya

IMG_0164VOH Kenya is in the process of constructing a new building! Currently, administration offices, the clinic, and the sewing room are all located in the same building. This new building will hold the Director’s and Administrator’s offices, which will give the clinic and sewing rooms more space.

VOH Kenya is very grateful for the donations and help that come from our generous supporters, they allow us to continually progress and develop in our care for the children.

Serving Moms at Save a Life Center

IMG_0162Liz, one of our short term volunteers at VOH Mongu, organized a lunch for the moms and babies at the Save a life feeding program. The moms played a game of netball, enjoyed good food and spent time together sharing games and stories.

Liz shared with them the story of Jesus washing his disciples’ feet, how much Jesus loves each one of us, and how much she and all those working with them love them. She then washed all their feet. It was such a humbling experience and the mothers went away extremely blessed.

Expanding VOH Mwanza

IMG_0165VOH Mwanza has over 100 acres of farmland. This land is located in a separate area from the Village and has been used to grow rice, maize, tomatoes, potatoes, and onions for the Village. The lead team is beginning to explore the potential of this land as a means of income that will further empower VOH’s ministry.

The team recently visited the farm to explore the possibilities of maximizing its usage, one more avenue to help us as we bring hope to children in need!

VOH Mongu’s Got Talent!

Kandonga was admitted into the Save a Life Centre at VOH Mongu on August 5th. He was severely malnourished when he arrived and had swollen hands, face, and feet. After just a few weeks he has already improved tremendously and is able to play and laugh. He was given a musical toy to play with when he started feeling better – watch how talented this little boy is!

Latest Blog “Where are They Now: Constantino”

Constantino blogThis “Where are They Now?” interview is a bit different than some of our others. When I went back to Zambia for a visit, my parents and I bumped into Constantino in our neighbourhood – he is now working at a local shop in the area. We were all excited to reunite and I asked Constantino if he would be interested in sitting down and sharing his story so I could put it here on the VOH website. He was eager and willing to do so and I appreciate the time he took to sit down, answer some of our questions, and share how Villages of Hope impacted his life and how he plans to pay it forward in the future…Read full story
